The “Can’t leave anything alone” Thread

Almost forgot to post this yesterday. I finally got some Flytanium scales on this S30V Dragonfly. Given lots of experience with the LW FRN version, it’s amazing how solid it feels with the titanium. That solidity between the scales and titanium back spacer also make disassembly and assembly much easier than the usual FRN back lock.

People talk about the increased weight but it really isn’t an issue. Sure, it’s a little heavier than the FRN. It’s still such a small knife and it still carries like a dream.

The Vosteed Mink is my favorite EDC production fixed blade in recent memory. So I scale-swapped to get a blackout and did some ergonomic softening on the scales. While the ergonomics were okay from the box, the edges were a little rough. Now it is supremely comfortable in hand, acceptable against skin under a shirt, and yet still quite grippy.

Here it is against its stock brother. (The green swap partner is still up on blocks.)

Just messed around with the new Kizer Helmet. No need for Skiff bearings as it came with multi-row ceramics right from the factory. That's the second sub-$50 folder from Kizer I've seen like this. ("The Swedge" in 9Cr18Mov is the other.) This one is a better cutter with its 2.5mm-thick blade in Nitro-V. Overall, great budget knife with decent ergonomics. I did decide to round the scale edges a bit because I had time and was feeling up to it. Now if feels great in my hand.

Decided to finally spend some time hand sanding the RCBW scales for my Chaparral, as they were a little rough fresh off the cnc.

Vintage WW2 Navy black rag Micarta along with some of my custom black burlap/double burgundy canvas/ivory linen burl Micarta.

Did a scale swap on this Kizer Agressor to get Richlite with non-coated blade and hardware. Then I rounded down the scale edges a bit, optimizing it for my grip, and installed Skiff bearings. It was already a great sub-$100 front-flipper but now it's everything I want it to be.

I messed around with the REK Knives REK Knives DIY Benchmade 940 Magnacut re-blade today. The hardware, clip, and scales are from Flytanium. I bought a cheap donor knife on the exchange here, that was dull and scuffed up, to save money for the mod. It was also a little rusty inside, which I had to clean up. I also couldn't find a purple pivot that matched the anodized Ti hardware, and I'm not even sure if anyone makes them. [EDIT - 940 doesn't look dull in pics because I sharpened it as soon as it arrived, due to OCD]

I included a size comparison to my REC Shaman in CTS-204P with REK Akhmedov fat carbon scales and REK Ti clip.
