Leather The “What’s going on in the S&F shop” thread!

Those turned out awesome my friend, nice job! What kind of material are the sheaths made of?

I should have hung on to my Volunteer 3.25 just to have you make me a sheath for it… doh 😣
Hey C!!

Thank you for the kind words. I’m pretty stoked for these sheaths.

Those sheaths are a test run being composed of “all-weather” upholstery laminated to 6oz leather. So far, so good and the waterproofness of the upholstery is fantastic.

I’m sure that VKT still sells the M 3.25. Ha!

(The slip sheaths will not be available in the camo upholstery…I don’t like the way they function)

I have a really dumb question. What is the purpose/function of a slip sheath? I understand it is in your pocket with a knife in it. Does it stay in you pocket when you remove knife or is it something you pull out, remove knife then put back? I assume the basic purpose is to protect scales from getting all scratched up with keys or whatever. Please inform me. I really like the looks of them.

Good question, D! (No “dumb” questions here)

There are many different ways to carry/use slip sheaths and those ways depend on the options the slip has.

Generally speaking, slips come out of your pocket and you remove the knife. If the slip has a pocket clip and fits the knife loose enough, the slip will stay put.

Slips without grommets/lanyards are meant to drop back into your pocket or onto your work area (table, ground, whatever) after you remove your knife.

Slips with grommets/lanyards keep the slip upright in your pocket. I attach a small lanyard with a micro carabiner clip to some of mine. This way I can pull out the slip, remove the knife and let the slip dangle until I’m ready to put the knife away.

The purpose of a slip is so that you can keep your knife pristine in your pocket and utilize the rest of your pocket for things like coins, keys, multitools, pens, spinners and other fidgets. (Things that will scratch up your knife.)

Below is a photo of how I carry some of my knives in their intended slip.

Thanks for the great question.

That middle ostrich(?) for the mini harpoon is sexy!!!! All look terrific C!
Thanks, Terry!

Did you graduate to a cutting die for these? Love the pen slip design.
I wish, Josh! All done by hand. If I get a “clicker” one day…I can’t say hand made anymore. Haha. 😕

Happy you like the pen slip! Works good!
