The All Stag and Ivory Buck Thread (Let's See Your Stag & Ivory Buck Knives)

We had quite a bit of activity on here yesterday….thanks everyone!!:thumbup:

Herbert…another nice one!! Thanks for posting here again (and for setting Badhammer straight) I wouldn't have known those were white Micarta.

Badhammer….I guess those don't qualify, but they definitely are nice. Thanks!! :)

Larry….every one of those qualify!! Those photos made me drool!!
Each and every one of those have excellent stag.:thumbup:
I do have all the boxes, paperwork and sheaths for the ones that came to me with them.
I learned not to get rid of those items from some Buck knives I bought back in the 70's and 80's.
Also, I agree. I think this thread has turned out great, thanks to all the contributions from fellow forum members like you!!

JB….I like all the photos!!
That is fantastic stag on that one!!:thumbup:

Today is another 110 from me…a three dot from 1980.
This one not only has excellent stag, but is very unique in that it came from Buck with just 7/16" bolsters. (Check the last photo of it sitting next to a square framed two dot)
The sheath is newer, but it added color to the photos. :)

Mark that's a sweet 110... Boy, you guys and gals have been posting some Beautiful knives... I would love to have anyone of them in my collection...

Well I found one more 110... Just a little Ivory... I hope you all like it...

110...

:)

Very nice Buck's guys, the knives in this thread are the kind of knives that dreams are made from:thumbup:.

Here is a nice custom stag 110 I found at a gun show and traded a brick of ammo for it. I don't care for the bolster work and the fitting of the stag could be better. But, the vine file work is nice and the stag itself is great.

Armand…glad you found another one!!
That one certainly has a unique pattern on the front side ivory.
It almost looks like a stain, but then when you think about it, that's one of the things that make stag and ivory so nice…all the natural variances that nature puts in each piece.
I like it!! :thumbup::thumbup:

JB…I would have traded a brick of ammo for that too.
I agree with you…the stag and the file work are very nice, but I'm not a fan of the engraving either. :)

I can't take photos of any knives to post until later today, so I thought I would post a stag out of my archives that I don't have anymore.
I sold it to a fellow forum member here.
I hope he doesn't mind. He gave this one to his son.
It's definitely dressed in excellent stag which looks great with the Damascus bolters.

First, a very Merry Christmas to all you Buck-a-roo's

Stumps, glad you posted a pic of that 500, it's currently locked in a display.

I received a 110 this week, and it was a gamble off the 'bay. It appears someone tried to buff the damascus off the blade. I did a light etch, but it still needs another, and the stag needs replaced on the right side, but the stag on the left, is killer, not sure how that one made it out of the shop. Guess I'll box it up and send it to Leroy.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

JB…I love the stag on that 110!!
That stag has a creamy, deep creviced look to it…very nice!!:thumbup:
That one has to be fairly rare.
I vaguely remember seeing one another time and that one might have been the 110 you posted here yesterday.

Scott…I'm glad you didn't mind me posting my archive photos of your Duke. :)
I think I remember that one on the bay that you posted yesterday.
I agree that the front stag looks fantastic!!
I didn't understand what you meant about doing a light etch on the Damascus??

Okay, I am getting to the very end on my stag and ivory Buck knives collection. :(
I have this 303 with a long pull, flat grind and some most excellent stag on both sides for today.
I believe I only have three more 110's to post after this one, then I'm done until I pick another one up in the future.
I am saving a special one for last. (I'll just say that I think JB will like it) :)

Stumps, I showed this photo earlier in thread but here it is again for discussion. These stag 300's were pre-date code special editions. I thought I had it written down but can't find it today, on whether they were shipped to Buck for the stag installation or were all Camillus made. Notice the coloration on the edges near the bolsters on your 303. Dye or flaming was used to enhance the stag color. Likely dye. Notice that with the small knives the machine that 'spins' the spring rivet head round and smooth cuts into the stag. I would prefer it didn't but I have a couple of examples. I have thought about trying to 'micro' smooth out those circles some how but haven't . The 301 rivet is hidden, go figure. Guess they thought the 303 was too small to try that. We need to ask Phil Gibbs if he had a hand in making these.... I need to take a picture of the backside as it is not as nice as the front. I thought that habit was a Buck made indicator....

I guess we need to flip a coin to see who gives up their knife so the other one can have the set....300

How is everyone on this fine day after Christmas?!?!
I spent the day at one of my brother's home and had a great time…and ate way to much seafood!!

Craig…thanks for the description and the history lesson on that 303 that I posted and your 301.:thumbup:
Very nice knives!!

My third to last stag that I can post for now is a 110!! :)
This one is very unique because it still has the square bolsters on a four dot instead of the radiused bolster of that time frame.

Hi Mark,

Very nice 110. Sorry that I missed posting yesterday, working night shifts this week and got caught up in the festivities with the family and can't post from work.

Here is a nice 110 with a blade cut out.

First off ... Happy Birthday Stumps ... :cheerful: ... I hope it's been a good one so far...

Here's a sweet 124 that I got from JB a few years ago... Did I say Sweet... Thanks again JB...

!24...
Colt...

:)

JB…you have been holding back on the stag 110's. :)
You continue to surprise me with such a nice collection of stag and ivory Buck knives!!

Armand…it was a great birthday! Thanks!!
Very busy afternoon and early evening.
I got in a ten mile walk in the afternoon, then a neighbor invited me over for a seafood dinner with their family.
Did you posted that 124 to tease JB. :D
It's a beauty!!

I have this stag 110 that I'm posting today, then one tomorrow that JB should like and that will be it for me until I come across any more stag or ivory Buck knives.
Today's 110 is a 1989 with very nice stag, brass bolsters and satin finish blade.

Love the color on that one Mark, now I can't wait to see what your next one will be. Armand, that is the best of the 124's and you got the one with the best looking stag, yep sweet sums it up nicely.

Here is another CO 110

I don't come over to the Buck forum often. I have to say that I'm really impressed with all the knives pictured in this thread. The only one I own is a damascus and stag 110 that I purchased back around 1990. Honestly, until this thread, I had never seen another one of those.

Okay…I have come to the end of my stag and ivory Buck Knife collection for now with today's post. :(
I have held this one back especially for John (although I post it for everyone's enjoyment).
I always new he collected beautiful etched bladed Buck knives, but I didn't realize until this thread that his collection of stag and ivory Buck knives was so extensive.
This knife has both of those things going for it, but first……

John…yet another beauty that you posted yesterday!!
I really like the stag on that 110 and I like that cut-out a lot too!!:thumbup:

Mike…WOW!!!
You just come in here and knock the ball out of the park!!
Those are all excellent!! Did Heath Stone have a hand in some of them??
Oh how I would love to have a couple of 639's like your two. One with the saw teeth and one without…very nice!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
You just gave me some new ideas. :)

Hello 22-rimfire. Feel free to add your stag and Damascus here if you get a chance.
We would love to see it, especially since you've owned it for over 20 years.

Okay John….and everyone else. This is the last stag or ivory Buck I have to share for now.
This is a prototype from 1988 that I picked up recently from one of the premier Buck Knife collectors.
It has a four color etched vertical bald eagle mirror finish blade, brass bolsters and very nice Sambar stag.
I just don't think a stag Buck 110 could get any better than this for a collector. :)
I posted extra photos because I simple couldn't narrow it down any more. I discarded a bunch, but couldn't choose between these, so I'm just posting all of them….
Oh, and the last photo is not mine, but it really struck me when I first saw it. It is by far the most meaningful bald eagle photo I have ever seen.:thumbup::thumbup:

This is not my photo, but it is by far the most meaningful photo of a bald eagle I have ever seen…

My wish for this thread is that it never goes out of date.
I am out of anymore stag or ivory Buck Knives to post at this time, but will be back to post more as I add to my collection.
I sincerely hope anyone who has a stag or ivory Buck Knife will find the time to share it here with us.
A great big thank you to Buck Knives for making such fine cutlery!!:thumbup::thumbup:
Thanks. Mark aka "Stumps" :)

Hi Mark, Thank you for starting this thread. So many fantastic Buck stag & Ivory works of art show here for everyone to see and enjoy. That 110 takes the cake stag & gold it doesn't get any better than that, except the fact that 110 has the very unique 4 color etching process. Wow, I love that one, most folks who see it will not understand just how rare that knife is.

Here is another 110 cut out with some friends.

jb4570

No new stag or ivory Buck knives for me to post today, but a look into the future…….:)

JB….those five stag Buck knives that you posted together really show the variety and the difference in stag…very nice!!

prettylilbug….I got to talk to your dad for a while last night.
Seems he was a little late inquiring about a certain stag Buck knife that I ended up with. I'm not smiling. :) Well, not a big smile. :D Okay, maybe I am. ;)
Anyway…the stag on that 110 you posted yesterday is as nice as it gets….thanks!!

Like I said, I have no more stag or ivory Buck knives to post, but I do have some Sambar stag that I hope to use on a few Buck knives in the future.
It may be a while because I've never re-scaled a knife. I plan on looking at some youtube videos for help before I tackle it.
The knives shown aren't necessarily the ones I'll re-scale. I just wanted to show the possibilities…..
