The All Stag and Ivory Buck Thread (Let's See Your Stag & Ivory Buck Knives)

Oregon, your a lucky guy to have that one in your collection... What a knife... What else could you want... ITE ... :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I see Bruce Dollinger every year @ OKCA and spent some time with him last Summer during the BCCI 25th so we have some history. I see his/BCCI table and it looks like a pirate has dumped out a treasure chest. The BCCI table, due to Bruce Dollinger's skill and acumen, dazzles and puts a spell on me every single time I come with ten feet of it. Really. I jaw boned with Bruce for several minutes and noticed as I walked away that I had a black box with golden string in my hand. Like a guide on the plains of Africa during a hunt Bruce finds and you bag the biggest buffalo. Thank you Bruce. Yes, I am lucky to have fallen into such deep clover by joining BCCI. Lucky lucky.

Steve…you must have came away from that knife show with great big smile on your face carrying that ivory 532 out of there with you!! Very nice!! :)

Thank you for the kind words. It is a beaut. You've met me so you can verify that I'm about as sophisticated as a ballpeen hammer and without Bruce Dollinger's expert guidance I would have come away from the BCCI table with only the note pad. The note pad, with 2013 calendar inside was entirely my choice, which made Bill laugh cajole my pedestrian sensibility. If my taste was not solely in my mouth I would have spent the seed money on a few of the other gems within my grasp. You wave your hand over any of the knives on his table and he instantly compares and contrasts that knife with any other you are considering. A consummate over-achiever with excellent knowledge and chain blue lightning recall of erudite details of cutlery going back decades. Bruce is one of the most polite and polished good guy I've ever met. His firm hand-clasp is like a bear trap. I bet that he could crack walnuts just by closing his fingers around them. Yes he could. A terrific fellow.

The one that started my obsession, my first Custom Shop 110 in Elk Stag.

This is a Buck 919 and is a dandy of a small stag custom skinner. It has a mirror polished beautifully radiused blade with nickel silver guard and double pins. The knife is fairly heavy for it's size measuring 7 5/8" with a blade that is 1/4 inch thick. I wish I had a sheath for it.

Gedlicks thats one beautiful knife....exactly what I was looking for 2 months ago. What a Beauty!

Been a while since I got a new stag. This one I had, but it was dressed in Macassar Ebony inlays…a 1978-1979 Buck 112 two dot.
It is the first re-handle I've done. I figured I might as well start with my favorite handle material…Sambar Stag.

I'm going to do about six more re-handles in Sambar Stag on some Buck knives I will keep for personal use. :)

Seems like the only way I have been able to add to this thread is to re-handle a Buck Knife myself.
I've been having fun this last week or so working in my shop.
Here is one I finished yesterday;

Here is another knife I've had for a while that only recently is eligible for this thread. :)

It went from a neck knife which I don't like to a back pocket knife that I do like.

Dang Stumps, didn't you just recently post about your first re-handle? You've gone wild.

Starting my first, though I don't know what knife I'll do yet. I'm using a nice? free chunk of mesquite wood before buying expensive stag.
