James…what can I say? You have been posting some beautiful stag and ivory Buck knives lately. Thanks for sharing them. :)

John…that is an excellent set of old Buck knives you posted!!:thumbup::thumbup:

I've been taking great pictures of Stag and Ivory Knives, but have not had time to post in the past few weeks. This warm weather has the grass growing to fast. Hard to keep the wife happy with how things look. Need a few more rainy days. Now all those photos have to wait because I received a spectacular Sambar Stag 501 this week. Although there has been a few really nice 501's posted in this thread(JB's post # 121 & 131, and MW's post # 371) I am terribly impressed with the one I'm about to post, maybe I'm still a little jacked because its new and Extra special because it came on a day that was so wonderful in so many ways, I don't know what more I could have asked for other than winning the lotto or catching a 40LB Brown trout. Anyways, Here is a few pics of a wonderfully handled 501!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks Mark!

See you all soon with a few more!!!!!

Mike…that's some nice looking Sambar stag on that 501. Hope it gets lots of use!!

SHB,

I do love the popcorn stag 501 it's sure is sweet. However, your scrim Ivory 110 takes the cake! I love the Ward brothers knives issued by Willeys Knives (always priced to high for me);).

JB, I lucked out and found this Ward Bro's on the bay for under $100 and it just needed a quick polish, the cheapest ivory 110 I've seen, I wish I would see more for that price:eek: I would definitely buy them:D, I like the Blue bill blades, but the scrimshawed polished stag doesn't do it for me. I saw one once with nice Sambar that had a lot of character and I passed up on it. Maybe someone will post that Sambar Blue bill on this thread one day:thumbup::thumbup:

Here is a 1982 Buck Custom shop Stag handled 110:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Wow, if I had seen it at that price! It would have cost you more than a benny;).

I really liked the 110 sambar stag with the 50th medallion and blade. Thought the stag and medallion complimented each other very nicely.

Here is a Buck 105 Klinkhamer with cherrywood and smooth stag handles and serrated blade. I have both complete sets of Klinkhamers plus a couple extra's. I will post the rest of the sets later.

Been a hot spell in the NE so my lazy butt has been poolside. I did manage to get up long enough to acquire this Heath Stone custom 124 with smooth sambar and ironwood.

JB, I always love to see the Blue Bill!!!!

James, That Palm skinner is absolutely great, maybe not as cool as the Fisk pair of Buffalo Bucks, but way better than most:thumbup::thumbup:

gsea, That 124 is spectacular:thumbup::thumbup:I really want the 3 Fillet knives Heath did in that style, but not sure if they will find their way into the budget:D

Here is a 935 Sweep point Hunter done in Ivory!! One of my Favorite Knives:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Beautiful Buck 935 STEELHEADBULLY. Nice clear handle scales. Leroy told me at this years Oregon Knife Show that it is very hard to find nice clear scales without cracks and most of them develop cracks over time as well.:thumbup:

Here is another 935 with mastodon handles like the one above that STEELHEADBULLY posted with quite a few differences including quite a few blade grind changes.

A few years ago while searching the internet I googled "Buck D-Guard" and clicked on images at the top of the page and pulled up some pictures of a D-Guard which was a 25 year service award knife with mammoth ivory handles.
I thought it was one of the most majestic knives I have seen. It became my grail knife. After pulling up the pictures for a few years and drooling over the knife low and behold it came up for sale and I just happened to know the guy who had it listed for sale. A quick call and a bit of negotiating it was mine.

This is now my favorite knife in my collection.

I don't have any history on this knife (the owner thought it was a 110 :) ) A 532 with Sambar (?) stag. It has a 2002 tang stamp but not a custom stamp. I am not sure if it is a post production custom or factory. The 2002 catalog has a 532 Sambar stag but it is supposed to have Chuck's signature, this one doesn't. In the 2003 catalog there is a Sambar stag offered but with a thumb stud (I would like that one). So my best guess is it is a production knife that got through without the signature or a post production custom. How's that for a definitive opinion?
