The Anvil Shed, The spot to shoot the breeze.

I thought the english method was to nail them to the barn wall and wait till they fell off. Nowdays I am far enough from home they set in ice chest for a couple of days. Breasted out of course.

Tony, did you move from NW that doesn't look like Midwest head, but lots of chipping stone was traded, just like pipestone.

They're from central Indiana. Typical of what I usually find. The point lying flat on the surface is most likely Indiana hornstone.
I wish I could have been the first person on this site. It's yielded countless axes, bannerstones, celts, grinders, gorgets, hemispheres, discoidals, etc. I can only imagine.....I'm about a hundred years late.
I spent hundred of hours walking fields as a kid. My childhood buddy is still involved with artifacts and runs with the big boys now.

VP I can be wrong sometimes, but I believe I read it as LL dropped lifetime warranty and put a one year limit on returns.
Hopefully, no one buys a Buck knife takes it on a camping trip for two weeks or a hunting season then returns it to get their money back. Which was not uncommon for LLBean warranty returns.... I was there in Oct. and some discounted returns looked only slightly worn and that's what the clerk I talked to said happens.....300Bucks
(LOL This crummy Buck knife, I've only had it ten years, dressed out 6 deer and sharpened it 30 times and its already loose.)

Well, there are people who buy beat up Buck knives for a few dollars and then break the tip and send them in for a new blade under the Buck lifetime warranty.
The knives come back looking like new and are resold as excellent condition (which after the Buck refurbish, they are).
I wonder how long that can go on.

As long as they let it, haven't talked such to CJ but Chuck would say he was defending the Buck promise....300

All good things come to an end in time.

Cabela's (if you check what they call the Bargain Cave) has a real liberal return policy and a lot of the Cave stuff looks like it took one camping trip and came back.

The prices in the Cave are high on even stuff that seems pretty worn........I guess they do well enough that they can keep it up.

Not really. Broken tip would be misuse as a pry bar etc. Not really covered.

THE BUCK FOREVER WARRANTY
We warranty each and every Buck knife to be free of defects in material and workmanship for the life of the knife, and we will repair or replace with a new Buck knife, at our option, any Buck knife that is defective. Buck Knives does not warrant its products against normal wear, misuse, or product modifications. Buck Knives are not intended to be used as hammers, chisels, pry bars, or screwdrivers.

If your knife was damaged due to misuse, our repair department can analyze the damage and repair it for a reasonable fee. If the knife is unable to be repaired, we will extend a one- time courtesy offer, allowing you the option to purchase a new knife for 50% off of our MSRP price listed on the website, excluding any custom knives or web specials

Au contraire, mon cher........although tips break due to abuse, they CAN break in normal use.

Buck chooses not to argue with customers. Buck will work with you. If the break is small enough to just re-tip, that's what they'll do.

If it's too far back for a re-tip job they will replace the blade or even just replace the knife. This I know from reading this forum for many years.

As I have said so often in the past.......the archives here contain a treasure trove of information.

"Folks-

We occasionally need to remember how great Buck Customer service really is. Over the last few months, I've stupdily broken the tip off of three relatively inexpensive knives.

Camillus told me that flicking a boot knife lightly into a fabric covered board was abuse, and not covered by warranty.

Columbia River told me that not only was my point guard not covered by warranty, but the would not even repair it for a fee, or sell me a replacement blade, but I could "Buy a new knife."

Buck not only repaired my 112 Ranger (received back today) at no charge, but cleaned it up to the point where I only suspect it is my original knife, I can't be sure.

That kind of service is well worth our patronage. Spread the word.

Peace,

Al Folsom

There must be some bighorn hunters among the Buck people. Here is a photo of what will be the new B&C record. It was found on Wild Horse Island State Park, Flathead Lake. The preliminary score is 216 3/4 which beats the current record by almost 7. The curl is about 50 inches. Official scoring will be done in a couple of weeks.

I'm not a bighorn hunter, but I have enjoyed reading. This book (which was a better investment than some of my knives) is all I know about it.

One good thing about being old is that some of your stuff eventually gets to be valuable, even books.
In my reading I was led to believe you had to shoot them to get a world record. Who knew you could just find them laying around?

I believe that the antlers/horns must be attached to the skull in order to be considered by B & C. Here's quote form B & C
"PICKED UP" TROPHIES*
Trophies in the records book with hunter listed as "Picked Up," include specimens that were found dead by hunters or hikers, and animals that have died from natural or unnatural causes, such as old age, severe winters, falls, car accidents, lightning, fence entanglements, drowning accidents, etc. "Picked Up" trophies also include animals that were illegally taken but are now held in trust for the public by game and fish departments. In the latter case, the poacher's name will not be listed in the book to avoid giving him credit for the kill. "Picked Up" trophies are an integral part of the Club's records-keeping activities. The fact that they were not taken by a hunter is irrelevant because the Club recognizes the trophy, and because they give a more complete picture of the successes of conservation efforts. Preston

You're a real ray of sunshine, you know that???? You say something negative in every single post...

You're a real ray of sunshine, you know that???? You say something negative in every single post...

Don't let him get to you JD. This forum will be a ghost town soon because of the lack of moderation. We all see the controversy stirred by the continuous negativity towards the brand, the scholar level lesson in contradiction, thread necromancy, and supercilious attitude in every post.

But... this forum will right itself. It could be weeks, months, or years; but at some point either moderation will take the helm and right the ship, or it will be all new faces here.

The interesting thing here is that my post, far from being negative, was complimenting Buck's exceptionally great customer service.

Yet Makael and friends continue to complain. They really should take it to the Whining and Cheese Forum.......that's what it's for.

I hope it rights itself and the negativity gets run out. It already seems like a lot of regulars gave up on this forum because of that. I like you guys and I like the discussions we have, but it seems like the same people have to interject BS on a consistent basis for no reason. If someone thinks everything Buck does sucks and everything they put out is junk....GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

Rant over....
