The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Oh no, they're actually going to be pretty affordable. They'll be machined and tumbled, like the original, which reduces a lot of the expense of hand grinding the bevels like our recent offerings. The machining turned out superb, in part due to the seven ton Mori Seiki mill we have now that we didn't have when we did the original. I'm really quite pleased with the machining, it's pretty phenomenal (if I do say so myself) and it will keep the cost closer to the original.
That is awesome Nathan, and what I was eluding to. Price gouging in relation to CPK has never been said in the same sentence, but it also means 100 won't come close to meeting the demand. We will, of course, appreciate as many as you will give us, and be happy about it.

I asked that question yesterday. Scales of the new and old UF are not compatible. I suspect it has to do with minor changes in the handle rather than the size of the scales.

Here is a question: will there be a pre order for the FK2 ?
I teally like the look of the updated model much more thanbthe original one

I don't know, I'm going to play this by ear. I feel there have been too many pre-orders recently. It's an awful lot of extra work for Jo to keep up with and I don't like "owing" people things. If the sales are too bananas and folks are getting frustrated because they can't get what they need I'll probably do it, but I'm going to try simply spacing the sales out enough so I can make them big enough that the sales go nice and slow and folks can just order what they want in a regular sale. Our last EDC sale lasted plenty of time. I'm going to at least try that first and see if it works out okay for folks.

Sounds like a pretty sensible plan to me. It would most likely be great for many who want your knives if you resume the semi-regular sales structure as you've mentioned.

Nathan, the last regular EDC2 sale was one of the slowest in my memory because that pattern seems to have reached saturation level after so many regular sales and also the preorder sales of it.

The FK2 sales without preorder will be bananas but the extra work created for Jo when there is any large preorder sale seems also like a big drag on your operation in addition to your own dislike of preorders for the other reason stated.

As the alternative method to better cater to demand you mentioned the key operative strategy: ... Spread them out and make them big enough ...

Edited because I type like shyte while on my iPhone!

Nathan, would these large sales be quanties of twenty or more in your mind? Will there be limits on how many one individual can buy per sale? You want me to stop asking questions?

Please no :(
I'm in Europe and it's nearly impossible for us on this side of the pound to order a knife with this system. The internet lag mean all your knives are sold before I can even post a message on the sales thread.
I understand it's a lot of work for Jo but a pre-order is the perfect solution for us.

That’s exactly what we have absolutely come to admire and respect about Nathan’s operation in addition to his exceptional products with value (best bang for buck) driven philosophy.

He has never thrown anyone under the proverbial bus and has always been very transparent about delays whether in-house or outsourced. This man has garnered and earned the respect which he gets from his loyal customers.

Nathan, I often joke with you in my writings but in all seriousness, I really respect your mettle as well as your obvious talents. JoJo got herself a very very good one ;)
I did at that Mat!

A question completely unrelated to the tasty UF or FK2:

Will a kydex sheath scratch my wooden scaled EDC2(C)? So I should stick to the provided leather sheath?

Oh the woes of not using a belt... ;)
