The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Quick question Nathan, or whomever can answer. Is unbuffed micarta an option or is buffed the only way?

If one just needs OD Micarta scales, should they post in the preorder thread or just contact Jo once they start to ship?

if you're not buying a knife but are just buying loose scales one should simply contact Jo outside of the sale once those scales have been made which will be in a few months

Not unless he changes his mind, sorry. :(

Thanks Jo :-) no worries :-) I’ll take it at remaining hopeful :-)
Hey,, Nathan is making the knife and doing preorder can’t ask for much more than this :-) Maybe I’ll get one with that custom satin finish to fill the need :-) :-) :-)

Nathan,

UF finish question , is the acid wash finish smooth to the touch ?
I am familiar with satin, soooo pretty :-) stone wash (at least Nathan’s) very smooth with consistent coloring, love this one for edc and display !!! Any benefits from one to another ?

Thank you

Acid wash is still a tumble finish so it feels the same. It gives a darker low shine finish (that isn't paint), but it is just a finish and can rub off over time. If you're planning on using your knife a lot and you don't need or want a dark low reflective finish you probably shouldn't get acid wash.

Thank you !! Stone wash it is for me :-)

First of all, THANK YOU for the options on the UF. Very happy about that.

Are these options available for today's UFs for sale?

-and-

For these two options, they are one or the other, correct? The first one being a short 1/2-1" sharpened versus the second being nearly the full spine sharpened?
Options:
Grind the back of the tip 30 DPS to make the point double edged (tip cuts in both directions)
Add a bevel to the spine and then sharpen both sides to make it a stabby double edged dagger grind (tumbled)

Thank you.

I'm sorry, no special options available in today's sale, as a general rule knives offered for sale out on the mail area are finished and pretty much ready to go.

The 1/2" sharpened tip is just the tip. The fully sharpened double edge gets a bevel ground on the spine which is subsequently sharpened, it is a double edged knife. be aware it is considered a dagger and is not legal in many locations.

Dude, you changed from "micarta is my favorite handle material" to "I prefer micarta over G10." Or am I tripping. Do you have a new favorite?

Nathan did you have any idea that these were going to be so popular? 50 plus orders in less then two minutes:rolleyes:

No. That's pretty unusual. We may not leave this open all weekend, I don't want the numbers to get too crazy. I'm cutting it off if it hits 200 knives. <--- that seemed pretty far fetched a few minutes ago...
