The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Hey Nathan, not a UF question, I promise.....

Any reason why a kydex sheath molded from a competition chopper with the race grind would not also work for one with the thick grind?

Thanks brother - Marc

Prolly be fine, just don't make it too tight. This is a case where a tight rattle free sheath with good retention isn't really what you want. Loose is good.

Thanks Nathan. It would be one of Eric's from Mashed Cat. He has Don's there now with a race grind as the press mule. I have one of each coming, race and thick, and was thinking of getting two sheaths if you thought it would work fine.

I'm thinking it would work?

it probably would. I could send a sheath to him that has not been sharpened yet and is full thickness before grinds as a pattern?

No. That's pretty unusual. We may not leave this open all weekend, I don't want the numbers to get too crazy. I'm cutting it off if it hits 200 knives. <--- that seemed pretty far fetched a few minutes ago...
Now you understand why some of us were bummed before the preorder, when you said you were going to put maybe 100 of these for sale, and the sales were for ~10 at a time.

Nathan, am I correct in assuming the Antique Micarta presently being offered for the UF Pre-order, does in fact include Black Liners? If I missed it my apologies-Thanks

"You scare me, cuz I know you might actually buy fifty of the damn things!"

"Lol, yeah. I've seen his photos of his 'Whirling Wheel of Death'. I certainly wouldn't count out the possibility of him actually getting 50 of these."

What you saw was a "Ferrous Wheel" - and I am about as unlikely to buy 50 UFs as I am to sell those two islands!:D;)o_O

Nathan,

UF finish question , is the acid wash finish smooth to the touch ?
I am familiar with satin, soooo pretty :) stone wash (at least Nathan’s) very smooth with consistent coloring, love this one for edc and display !!! Any benefits from one to another ?

Thank you

I know Nathan already answered your question, and I am essentially going to second what he said, but I wanted to point out that the acid etch is quite stunning when it is fresh. It has a depth to it that is really beautiful. Unfortunately, as Nathan said, it is a finish, and it wears off in use. But it is lovely.

So, I have just recently discovered CPK. I have never been into fixed blades, but with the start of this new year, I said I am not buying any folders this year, and will start a collection of fixed blades.
Over the last week, I have looked at lots of pictures, and read lots of threads and am now lusting after one of your knives, hah.
I had it narrowed down between the FK and the EDC.
And since I have further narrowed it down to the FK2 that sounds like it will be coming out.

Give it to me straight, is it going to be a while until I get one of those? I would just like to hear it straight to know what to expect and be in for.
I still am not quite sure how your sales work, but I think I am figuring it out from reading stuff. Im just not sure ill ever be avail when these sales threads are posted.

Its awesome you are such an active part of your forum.

Thanks

Nathan,
I just missed the pre order when it was open for the HD Medium Chopper. Any way to open that back up for a limited time?

Nathan, did you go with Mashed Cat (FK2 )? If you don’t mind anyone asking.... thanks.
