The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Let us hear more good Sir!
think of it as an HDFK/LC mashup

the OG LC design was never really intended to be a 'chopper', per se

the original handle was designed more for retention and precision than for long term chopping comfort. Trail blazing was its raison d'etre, where all types of things need cutting but the bigger stuff would be the domain of the chainsaw

the new model, yet to be named, is more of a camp knife designed for everything from chopping to cleaning your fingernails to prepping your food. Not necessarily in that order. It will be a very versatile, big knife

I'm just finalizing the 3D model and expect it to be on its way to CPK HQ over the next couple weeks

So shorter than almost 10” BL then?

The LC was/is one of my favorites. Both the HDFK-XL and the more machete-ish design I’ve heard mentioned before both sound like blades I need.

not to answer for my bro, but I've got something new in the works which, (if accepted) will fill the void left by the LC quite nicely...

I need this so bad. A thin stock, uber slicer. A re-release of the skinner would do it, or any other design CPK thinks is best.

Nathan, please don't listen to these loony yahoos! :D

Please let 2020 be the year of many smaller CPK patterns and some with thinner stocks for super sliciness (I keep getting autocorrected for spiciness ).

A video of Dan using the K18 in anger would turn your stomach and violate YouTube policy.
YouTube policy is surprisingly selective as evidenced by the large number of videos involving livestock and big blades.
But you are right, if it is the Hippocratic oath that the good doctor is planning on violating, it probably wouldn't fly under the radar.

What are the differences between the fk2 and the fk? Also is the fk2 referred to as the utility field knife?

Thanks

The FK2/UFK is a refined or second generation FK/FK1. There are minute differences in blade profile. The handle shape is also slightly different. The FK had a scraper on the pommel. The UFK/FK2 does not.
Overall they are the same knife with minor changes between generations.
