The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

What are the differences between the SS and GG SDFKs?
The ghetto is just a basic with a basic grind. They both have the shallow S, but the Signature is internally skeletonized and has jimping on the thumb ramp and a better fit and finish and a swedge as a weight offset for the skeletonized tang (it will juuuust balance on the first finger, which was important to me)

Ah. Thanks.

no not really. I'm talking about ''a leisurely entry sign up period'' of say, 10 minutes

then you use a random number generator or a bingo cage and randomly pick a post number.

way more fair to those who either cant leave work or dont have fast internet ....

I think there are pros and cons to that system - just like with any system of distribution of a low volume, high demand product.

On one hand, everyone gets a fair shake in a game of chance, right? On the other, the folks who have been honing their "Friday Sale" or general "drop" skills these past years will certainly feel put out. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't type of scenario. I am notoriously bad with drops, even scheduled ones, and I still think lotteries make for an additional (undesirable) layer of work for an already busy crew.

Anyone who knows can answer this one for me; I scrolled through a few pages and it isn't mentioned in the sales post(unless I'm blind) but do both the basic and SS come with the "s" grind? Or just the SS. TIA

I like the black better. Actually, the natural is really good and ages really well. The old antique micarta is the best product we offer but, unfortunately, it is not available to buy as a current production. Next to it, the black and natural phenolics we offer are the best materials in our arsenal. The fact they're also the most affordable is incidental.

Hi Nathan. I quoted your message from the 'After Sale Lounge'. You mentioned the scales, "aging well".

I have been keeping all of my extra scales in separate zip-lock baggies. Is that bad for them to age in? Should I store them some other way, like wrapped in a paper towel or something other than zip-lock baggies?

It's fine. The natural will turn into a dark brown after a few years, which I like. If they're covered by a sheath they may darken at a different rate in that area, but it doesn't hurt them.

This is interesting, thank you.
I have never taken into consideration of how micarta will age when choosing scale color.
How does burlap age then, compared to natural micarta?
Does terotuff also age well?
