The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Are you a mathmagician??

It's going to be a lot. The manufacturing process is persnickety because of that long unsupported tip. There's a reason you don't see geometry like it in production very often. There's a complex fixture to make. And I honestly don't want to make a bunch of them because it will clog up the works here. I need to keep the numbers reasonable which means a lightning fast pre-order (not ideal) or price it a little higher to reduce sales (and Abby gets to go to college next year). I choose option 2. I love the Shiv and I'm glad to be able to make them again but it's not going to be an affordable high volume pattern, it doesn't lend itself to that. We will have affordable knives next year but the Shiv won't be one of them.

^ I was only contemplating on 2 but since you invoked Abby + college, I may have to bump myself up to at least 3 depending on the loaded options. No matter how you agonize and try to apologize for a knife which may end up on the farther side of your preferred price range, I would like to remind you that you are dealing with a bunch of CoCK-heads in here, the monsters who you have created.

Nathan, do you have an estimate on K20s coming back from heat treat? Trying to estimate whether I can afford a Shiv preorder, and it will mainly depend on whether the second bill for the K20s is going to come due in the very near future or not.

It will be after the turn of the year

I liked your idea of 1 per person, per post. If there’s 300 Shivs under no restriction per post, those could sell out by post #100 easily, probably #65-#75.

I love my CPK knives, but I also love my Fridays off of work lol. I’ll be in the woods this Friday hunting deer and bear, and now needing to hunt for cell service too! I pulled over on the side of the road for the Notta-K 😂 (got blown outta the water on it!)

*and possibly jail

Coincidentally enough, someone tried today to siphon off 11, 238.90 dollars from account. This was not through my debit or credit cards. There was a trial run for a few cents on the 30th of Sept which obviously I didn't notice. Jack up the internet and bank account passwords, folks.

Just an idea so nobody roast me over the fire please lol 😊
Could the shiv be built with a 6-7” blade ? Making that extended tip shorter ? Would that effect the price for building them ?
I have always wanted a UF2 with a 4” blade. Just me thinking out load lol

Sounds like you want the shiv to be a UF and the UF to be a DEK. Let the roasting begin. 😄
