The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

That wonderful edge cut antique Micarta comes from some machined bearing stock that is almost certainly Westinghouse although I do not have material certs for it.

I bought all of it they had but it's half gone now.

I acquired a few tons of some old International Paper Micarta. International Paper bought the brand, the machinery, and the manufacturing process when Westinghouse sold out. It's maybe not exactly the same thing but it's pretty close. It is certainly good material. I like it. And it's much more affordable than genuine Westinghouse. We will be offering that on knives in some future runs.

Also, I've decided I'm going to do a Basic Five pre-order. I see all the flippers out there.

I need to get the last of these DEK pre-orders out and then we're going to do the basic five & FK3. Probably pretty soon.
I think I maybe should have been told about an FK3???

I'm relatively new to CPK and I'm not up to speed on the acronyms. In the latest post about Friday's sale (8/11), there is a note about a type of knife, DEF. I looked at the current production on the CPK website but I couldn't determine what it means. So I have to ask: what does DEF mean? :)
