I'm relatively new to CPK and I'm not up to speed on the acronyms. In the latest post about Friday's sale (8/11), there is a note about a type of knife, DEF. I looked at the current production on the CPK website but I couldn't determine what it means. So I have to ask: what does DEF mean?

How do the pre-orders work? Same as a Friday sale?

Generally Nathan will provide details in the first post (pricing and payment options, timeline, handle and finish options if any) and leave them open for at least a couple days or weeks unless demand is overwhelming and he isn’t producing a big batch (eg the K20).

It sounds like this is going to be a big preorder so I doubt you’ll have to be fast on the trigger like a Friday sale but you should still probably plan to post when it opens since demand has been so crazy high lately (instead of waiting till Saturday for example).

I think it means Double Edge Fighter. It’s a beautiful knife!

I looked at this link, but where does it say it say no options? Like no options at all as far as scales and titanium Torx screws?

Yes, the pre-order will be this coming Friday and we will offer the basic five and a signature build of the basic five that we might call the FK3. There will be plenty of options, but I have not figured out what we will be offering yet.

A hollow ground signature Basic 5 would be fantastic! I absolutely love the DEK3 I received not too long ago - it's by far my favorite knife in that size of any brand - it's a definite out-of-the-park home run!

The upcoming EDC run will be Delta 3V and Magna cut.
