The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Man I'm struggling getting the Makino's set up and running the scales right now which is causing a bottleneck unfortunately. They are, otherwise, just about ready to rock. I am currently stuck in machine repair purgatory but I'm making progress.
No worries I'm not trying to add any stress!!!!

I hope the repair will run smoothly for you !!!!!

Hey everyone! I’m not sure if this has been asked or answered but I was wondering why the delta symbol isn’t on the Cruwear Basic Field knives like on the 3V blades? Isnt a version of the Delta protocol used on them?

Thank you everyone for your time!

Here is my speculation.
The difference to the industry standard heat treat for Cruwear is minimal and Nathan considers it more of a tweak than a change.
And/or he isn’t done tweaking the protocol - thinks he can improve it even more.
Or it was a one time, fun time run for him and we won’t see Cruwear anymore, or much.

The earlier FK1’s in 3V do not have the delta symbol. They are a tweaked heat treat compared to the industry standard but he was still experimenting with the protocol to squeeze every bit of performance out of the steel for his application. After he was satisfied and settled on the protocol he started using the delta symbol to denote this change. So there are FK1’s with the Delta 3V and FK1’s with no delta symbol but are a tweaked heat treatment that was a precursor to the final delta heat treat.

But I heard that one of each was sent to the Large Hadron Collider.

How high are the two knives (searched and couldn't find) ? They have to fit into the 46mm diameter of the LHC beam screen :)
