Sorry man, maybe this will help. Think they drink on the job?You just blew my mind.... hahaha
I hope things are less hectic and was wondering if there was damage to the shop when Nathan moved the new machine in (he said it might be structural)

You can't put pressure on me like that
Those are valid points and you’re probably right about the hollow ground portion, makes sense. I’m sure it’s a lot more work and time consuming.#stillnotnatahn but I think that this has more to do with the hollow grind DEK3 blade sucking up lots of CPK's man-hours (Mark-Hours). Although DEK3-MC's scrap rate was exceptionally high (IIRC Nathan had said ~ 80%) note that in the recent BFK/FK3 preorder, no hollow grind option was offered although previously during some Fridays sales, ~ 25 or so BFKs in Cruwear were offered with hollow grind finish.
Hey Nate, any magnacut basic 5 going to hit the sales anytime soon?
This year^^^^^
Which year?![]()
Now you got me curious since you mentioned salt water. Has your BFK been exposed to salt water for extended periods? Not Nathan, but in my experience, Magnacut has better edge retention than 3V, but it's not as tough. So if you're planning on hard use like batoning, etc., 3V may be better. Not to say Magnacut won't do a great job.
Magnacut is also corrosion resistant enough for Spyderco to use it in their Salt line. But Delta 3V performs really well also. I strap a Carothers BFK to my waterfowl pack and it's been exposed to all kinds of water and salt water. Not a speck of rust.
It's been on many hunts like this. I expect all of my gear to get soaked from boat rides, my dog, etc It's strapped to the outside of my pack. Now you got me curious since you mentioned salt water. Has your BFK been exposed to salt water for extended periods?
With a clip point and a blood groove!Can I get a serrated K20?

Here's an example, let's say as a bait knife to cut bait while fishing at the beach. Used briefly then washed with salt water and resheathed. That type of exposure or just splashed/misted with salt water and wiped off? Or anything more such as being underwater for extended periods as a dive knife.
I had planned to get one of the Magnacut BFKs for a dive & hard use beach knife. I always assumed Delta 3V would finally give in and rust decently if it was used a lot around salt water. But your comment has me wondering how it holds up to salt water use.
Do you have the standard stainless fasteners ? If so how’d you get them off because I tried and it bent my Torx bit lol?Not that it matters much, and it didn't to me, but half of the used D3V CPKs that I acquired had rust under the scales, some more than others. These days, my CPKs all get Froglube under the scales. Just saying.
Removal requires two torx bits (one on each side). If you’re still having trouble apply some heat with a hairdryer or heat gun and try again.Do you have the standard stainless fasteners ? If so how’d you get them off because I tried and it bent my Torx bit lol?
