The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

What it does do is create a fiendishly sharp edge quickly, without oils and waxes and other gunk. It is never sticky. Once you use it, you'll never go back. I literally threw all my other shit away

I’ll have to get some with my next order to try it out. I have some 1 micron spray that works well but I do notice it polishes the edges, I like a toothy edge, especially for use on animals.

Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist , for the uneducated, is this the sharpening order (1. Wet ceramic, 2. Arkansas stone) or is this one stone? Looking at developing a sharpening kit. Diamond shmoo to be requested in next score.
That's correct. A wet 220 3M ceramic Jflex grinding belt followed with a white Arkansas.

I’ll ask about it before
Didn’t Nathan say it is going to be for sale at some point in time or we would be able to add it to our knife orders? That was a few months ago, maybe. Don’t think I have heard anything since though.

He did.
You can.

I emailed Jo last night, so hopefully will hear back sometime next week.

I'm going to do the EDC pre-order after the next EDC sale here in a couple weeks. If anybody was wondering.

That way, if you don't get in on the sale, you can just go over to the pre-order and get whatever you want. No big deal. Low stress.

Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist - I know you’ve answered this type of question before, so just to clarify, I presume you will maintain the cadence of Friday sales of EDCs following next weeks’ sale and the pre-order? Any other offerings before year end?

I ask as, though I may be in the minority, if I have the option, I would prefer a shot at a Friday sale over pre-order.

Thanks!

Yeah we'll continue with sales every 2 weeks

220 wet ceramic with a white Arkansas stone micro bevel then stropped with a fine diamond shmoo with some not-so-fine particles added to the mix. Diamond polish compound is not like this, which is one reason I make my own. Once I perfected my shmoo, I threw everything else away.

Exactly same process I use on the race knives.

This has a good combination of cutting characteristics that wins almost every cutting competition we attend. Watch him on the rope slice part. The other competitors aren't like that.

It's polished but toothy and it's durable.

Too polished it's necessarily better.
Thank you for sharing the sharpening method, Nathan. A few more practice runs and I’ll try it. Granted, it’s taking a lot of swings and your Racing Chopper is BARELY starting to notice. 👊🏼

Holy shit !!! Bennie is an absolute beast !!!
