Nathan, has it really been two full years since? I honestly had to look it up! Where did the time go quickly?
Personally, I am very happy that you decided to take on this project again after the insanely fast flash type of sale when the original was K20 was offered, leaving some of the CPK faithful outside of the cut-off limit. For those who may not be aware, it was the advent of the K18 which actually speeded up the original K20 because Nathan learned so much from losing his shirt fulfilling that K18 project after KoD the TV program had already been cancelled. Recently, I got very excited about acquiring a Katana from another maker in here but without any prejudice to the esteemed maker, I just personally decided to take a pass even though I knew that the chances of getting a CPK-Katana at some future point are literally NIL! If Nathan and CPK, despite a very respectable amount of acquired experience from past sword projects in addition to all their in-house facilities and machineries in addition to probably many other challenges, still find these sword projects to becoming a real PITA to make to successful fulfillment, I applaud other makers for having the cajones to take on manufacturing traditional Japanese type swords in larger quantities than just boutique type quantities (say dozen at most). So many uncertainties and pitfalls from CAD to reality!
To think that you are going to get a 3K+ sword for < 2K even if had to pay the full payment upfront, it'd be a no brainer. This sword will be worth lots more than 3K in China the moment when it lands there. Of course, I am not suggesting that they will be for sale but whether the objective is pure joy of ownership or its commercial value, CPK went out of its way again to offer its first maxim: offering the best product for the sort of qty which they produce at a tremendous value for the $.
My apologies to Nathan if I'm just telling the truth without consulting with him first. Not that I would do so anyway
