The barrage?

We did get an all USA selection with Wal-Mart this year.

Tanto Blur
Black Leek
OD-1
Zing
Skyline
2445ST (non cataloged item)

All are shipped, and if are not in the stores today, should be very shortly.

I picked up the Zing this past weekend for $40 at Walmart in Greenwood IN. They also carried all Thomas mentioned above plus the Scallion, Chive, Storm II, Skyline, Blackout and Vapor. The ones in stock were the Zing, Skyline, Blur, Storm II and the Barrage (2445ST). If I wasn't pressed for $$$ at the time, I would have bought all the ones in stock.

Love the Zing BTW. My new EDC  .

Also ordered the Lahar so it should be here this week  .

I'm may be on a Kershaw kick right now :p .

I just handled a Barrage at Wally World today. I think I'll get one and Scotchbrite the blade to a more satin finish. Nice knife but it was hard to open with the thumb stud. The arc of opening the blade doesn't match up with the stud placement. As with the Skyline also.

I'd have to agree with you about the Barrage. I really think it needs a revamp on the stud. The Skyline's thumb stud acts as a stop pin and I think is really meant to be open by the flipper. When I have used the Skyline's stud, I found it easier to use than the Barrage's.

At 1st I also thought that the radius of thumb stud travel was a little off. Now I am more used too it and believe the "problem" was caused by the small size of the thumb studs not the length of the radius . I would like to see if the bigger studs that are on the Cyclone would help with this problem. I check the knives that I have with thumb studs and found out that most use the very same radius give or take 1/8". But they all have bigger thumb studs.

I have now used used the 2445 at work for a week and I am impressed with the new Sanvick. No rust spots, like I always get with 13c26 and the edge has also lasted better. Still not sold on serrations but Kershaws new ones are the best I have used. They are livable in the Sanvick, but too fragile in S30V. All of the tips of the serrations have chipped off on my random leek.

Does anyone recall what Thomas said the Rockwell hardness is on the new Sanvick 14c28n?

With the Barrage, I noticed that the bladed open easiest with a almost 90 degree push on the stud, where all other blades I can recall, open with a more 45 degree push. Really, I think it maybe a two fold problem, because I agree that the thumb studs are too small. The problem may be made much better by addressing one of the two issues and may be made perfect by addressing both.

The new Sanvick was very impressive. Though I don't have any real experience with the 13c26, the 14c28n seems to perform better than some VG-10 I've used. I would really like to see some test run comparing it to S30v. I found that it would still shave even after 50-60 slices through cardboard and only started to loose some edge after slicing into some wood, but still kept a very usable edge.

I like the serrations, as far as serrations go. If I was going to have to have some on a blade I'd go with Kershaw's. They have performed well on my Blur.

IIRC, Thomas said they were running 14c28n at 58 +/-1.
