The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

It is possible to have amazing action using washers, MachineWise manages it. I'd be curious to try a Shiro running on washers...

I have an older Hati model that uses washers and the action is really nice. It feels a little more “muted” in how fast it flips open, not to say it’s slow or anything of the sort because it’s not, it just feels a little different. I actually think it feels very similar to how my Soft Overkill opens, that’s on roller bearings so in a similar fashion I can feel the increased contact the pivot design has with the tang.

This knife has a weird tapered holder with bearings. I actually checked with Shiro to see if it was authentic and they stated that it was.
It's an oldie then--probably an early piece as Shiro transitioned from washers to ball bearings. My Tabargan 100NS is on washers and was produced between 2009 and 2011 according to Tom. I don't have a timeframe on my washered Hati nor examples of F95's on washers that I've seen online. Yours must have been made not too long after those.

Been looking closely at a Q95 ursus but I keep going back and forth on the color of the Micarta which looks very faded at times and intensely colored in other images. Yours looks light gray. Have you oiled your Q95 at any time to make the color more intense? Do you like the pale gray appearance? Thanks for your feedback!

The colour really depends on the light and always changes between grey and black.

First Shiro I’ve ever owned or handled on washers. Fires hard like any other F95, just obviously needs some help closing which is fine with me as a CRK lover. I expect it will break in nicely over time as well. Definitely can’t wait to get some carry time with it. Another win from Shirogorov for sure!

Congrats. It is awesome. Mine showed today too. The more I flip it, the smoother the closing gets. Seriously. Love this 95.IMG_0980.jpegIMG_0981.jpegIMG_0978.jpeg

I received mine today after missing the delivery yesterday, I think I’m gonna open it in about 3…2…1…

15 flips later and I like the feeling the scales have, compared to my F95 Zero these feel more flat, I love the contrasting finishes on the blade and pivot fasteners too. It’s hard to tell this is a 4mm blade, there’s so much steel removed due to the swedge and full flat grind that it feels like the updated 3.5mm blades for the Gen.5 F95’s in the flipping action.

The total run of this special edition F95 “Braces” is 150 pcs.

Mark your calendars: this Saturday the second and final batch of this limited edition will be available on [a reference to the dealer's/maker's website], don’t miss out!

I really hope to get one tomorrow!..

P.S. Yep, snatched one. The 2nd drop on the maker's site was gone in a minute.

I guess the larger part of the Braces was sent to US.

I played with the pivot adjustment a little bit and I like this setup! It was easy (if you have the bits) to loosen the little slotted screw on the backside, adjust the large pivot screw to your liking, then run the small screw in until tight. I’m hoping this design eliminates the pivot screw walking out/needing loctite because that seems common in my F95 lineup.
