The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Has anyone ever had detent rock fixed by Shirogorov?

My Neon Zero has a very small amount of play when closed. I didn't notice it at first but I can feel it moving when I shake the knife or tap the blade. It's the only one of my 8 Shiros that has this issue.

I don’t think I’ve heard of this being an issue before but because Shiro’s have the Torx screw holding the lockbar insert in place, I’m wondering if you can loosen that screw and allow the detent ball to mate up better with the hole?

Neon Zero doesn’t have a screw.

Op needs to reach out to recon1. They can possibly have Sergey look at it while at Blade and see if it can be remedied. If not then off to Russia it’ll go.

Agreed, was just going to post the same — R1 handles US warranty claims. My recent experience with a Skinny Strip that had terrible lock rock and blade play is R1 had me send it to them and they held it in house until Sergey came over for the February show. He fixed it then (apparently he either brings his tools or maybe R1 has a repair shop set up for him at their place) and then R1 sent it back at my expense, which I thought was bad form (for a $2K knife, you’d think they’d maybe ship back the busted one they sold me for free, but whatever). The whole process took 4 months, so don’t expect it to happen quickly even if they have to send it to Russia, which I doubt they’ll do since Sergey travels so much. Good luck!

The Neon doesn't have a screw holding the insert in place; it's press-fit in. I'm not really sure what Shirogorov will be able to do to fix it.

Thanks for sharing! I have been curious to find out if Sergey can actually fix issues while traveling; they must have access to a pretty decent repair shop in the US.

My Neon Zero does the same thing. I don't notice it unless I'm looking for it. It would be nice if if could be fixed easily.

I am interested in hearing more about the repair of detent rock and others that have it. Searching the web there is very little on this topic regarding Shiros. When the lefty F95 zero came out I was sure it would be forever Shiro until another lefty model released so I bought two of them. One came perfect and I've carried it a lot, love that knife! Its twin came with a bit of detent rock. The knife fits so perfectly nothing can be achieved by taking it apart and reassembling. It's minor but worry it would worsen with any use. My good one, after breaking in, has the ball about 99.9% the way seated in the hole and it would start rocking if anything else wore some. Obviously it is not that big of a deal and I get it... Things happen. I knew repairing a knife made in some hostile land half an Earth away would be difficult. I was banking on Shirogorov being so perfect the warranty wouldn't ever be needed.
