The Beer Scout Knife

Glad to see a knife where Evan started it all come into fruition as a production model :)

Not how I remember it. :) The only thing I remember Evan doing was being the first to mod a TC into a beerlow but GEC had already made the crown lifter series and radio jacks before that. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, it was Evan, aka Esnyx, who first created the Evan's Jack, the Florida Jack, the Beer Scout if you like. And its surge in popularity resulted in discussion here in these forums, and eventual production in Titusville. Evan can rightly claim to be the Father of all Beer Scouts!

I only know from what I read which is the quote that Scott posted..forgive me if I'm mistaken. :D

Did he ever make one with the TC bolster? I thought he posted once that he wouldn't do that to a TC.

The above is my understanding.

I suppose you might argue that all Evan did was to modify an existing GEC pattern, but I think his enthusiasm for the mod/pattern, no doubt the result of many experiments with many bottles of beer, led to a lot of discussion in the Traditionals forum. Evan provided tinder for the flames of the free market. GEC obviously knew there was a potential bonfire of demand for this one. :D

There is a lot of difference between "Making a knife" and grinding out one somebody else made.

Well, Excuse Me.
It's not my work. I just don't understand the denigration. Even if someone posts an incorrect statement about the origin of this knife. There must have been a demand for his modified pieces, they sold well.

I was just looking at these knives on the GEC web site. The combo of a sheepsfoot and screwdriver blade with the EO notch is something I might buy. However, the "Beer Scout Knife" shield isn't something I care for, nor do i want a bail on my pocket knives. Guess I'll pass on this particular offering.

The bail is removable, and something like half of the different SFO's do not have the "Beer Scout Knife" logo (some say "Scout" and some are blank and some have no shield at all, iirc).

Where is your Piggy Bank, now??

I've had two of Evan's Beerlows. I must have the most rare one left. And no, I did not sacrifice the TC. Someone else did.

From the original owner, he did say he had to fight hard to get the TC butchered for it. But it got done and now I own it. It will look great with my Beer Scouts!

And in defense of Evan, the only thing he took from the original knives was the blades and springs. He made the frames, scales and pins. In my case he used the TC bolster also but that was it. He, in my mind, made this knife

Another thing worth mentioning is Evan did contact Charlie and ask permission to modify one of the TC's into a "Beerlow" out of respect to Charlie. He didn't have to do that but he did out of respect which says a lot about his character. :)

In my mind, Bob owns the best looking one!! That's such a stunner. I'll give you my chunk of land on the Moon whenever you want to trade haha

Evan was also the father of my Shadow Beer Scout. Awesome work :)
