The Beer Scout Knife

I guess a good sheepFoot blade is good for guys and gals that open alot of boxes like at work, , , right ?,, I got a freebe from C.I. when I ordered some Gurka Cigars, it just has K. Hansotia Co. on the nice box and the nice pouch for the knife, no other info on the knife on the web or anywhere, it's a Gurka Cigar Co. promo, the point is its a modified tanto and serrated blade, it's the best cigar box opener I ever used, (packages the cigars come in) it's all steel construction and probably a 420 stainless, it came sharp out of the box, but the nut and for look's loosened up pretty easy so I keep a eye on it, but it seems it was made for that type of function, is the Beer Knife the same thing for workers that open alot of boxes, I had a 3 blade Stockman Tree Brand Bokor when I was a kid, the guy knew I wasn't old enough to buy it, but money talks, , , walks, anyhow he sold it to me, it was the best pocket knife I ever had, ouch was it. I carry a pocket knife on me everyday, mostly for opening mail, or similar things to open, mine are vintage Schrades, Camillus, Ka-Bar, Western, I like pocket knives but when I go into the bush my C.S. Black Rhino sometimes comes along although I prefer a small 2 1/2"-3 1/2" blade and I wear it as a neck knife, good luck guys on the giveaway.

Anyone receive a micarta yet? I wonder how the finish on the slabs is going to be. The last natural micarta one I had was a little "rough" and not so smooth.

That appears to be canvas micarta and the current run is linen micarta (much smoother).

Alas, my micarta and ebony have not arrived yet. I'm off to the Adirondacks today, and will have some Beer Scouts waiting for me when I get home. See you in 2 weeks, my friends.

My soda scout in micarta arrives tomorrow too. Been a good knife week. Already had a white BS, black showed up Tuesday, fancied up spyderco came back today, and tomorrow my brown soda scout and a Bob dozier ag Russell should be here. Ordered the forum knife too.

Sorry for your troubles with the postal system, P. But the idea of a potato chip being out of town made me smile. :)

I'm glad! :D

Oooh, very nice picture. I love GEC's sunbrite. I have a caplifter in the same, although not a Beer Scout Knife. It's kinda hard to miss, whatever the setting.

Sarah can I see more of that blue Huckleberry?!?!!! I have a love for all things blue and I've never seen a GEC that color. I need!!!

Oh my...what is that lower easy open one? I like the looks of that one A LOT!

Acadian, this is one of seven O-riginal GEC "Beer Scouts," a short run of parts knives that GEC put together in time for their annual Rendezvous last year.

[GEC had previously released a run of Boy's Knife/#15 "Scouts" with sheepsfoot mains and pen secondaries with these same covers.]

I commissioned Bladeforums member Glennbad to re-cover a #15 Radio Knife (originally clad in the only cover material I could bear knowing was shucked, GEC's nifebrite) in blue bone from Culpepper & Co.

I am mighty pleased with the outcome.

Same as said on IG P, love the assortment and the photos. Blue is certainly a cover material I wish GEC to do more of. Either blue jean denim micarta or blue jigged bone or dyed camel bone :D
