First of all I don't know why this is called a "Bilton" khukuri. That's what it said on the shipping invoice. I have no idea what the name might mean or how they dreamed it up. It might have something to do with Bill. It certainly doesn't sound Nepali. But name aside here's the story as best I can piece it together.

These little khukuris were not made by the kamis of BirGorkha. There are no markings on the blade. So, I'm guessing that some wandering village kami came by and unloaded them on Pala. But Pala knows a good khukuri when he sees one and these are good. The fit and finish (magic stone mirror which I'm sure was accomplished at BirGorkha) are excellent and this village kami has them hardened up very nicely. No buttcap but nicely done diamond keeper. No karda or chakma and old style leather but scabbards are well done. Good little rig.

Little is the key word. These khukuris are 8.5 inches and weigh four ounces.

We had 9 but two went before I could get this posted. I have left 4 horn handles and 3 beautiful rosewood handles. We will deliver these little beauties to your door for $30. Will make a nice neck knife or if you're so inclined you can tape one to the inside of your thigh and play like you're a Sherpa girl.

Call or email.

Are any of those purses still available? :D

This new woking from my home bit is too convenient. Before (when I got all the good bledms) i'd be at the office, bright and early, and ready to surf on the Corporation's dime. Now that I'm at my house, I cannot get a good shot at the deals cause I can sleep in.

I really dig those little khuks, good snag to all who got one!

I guess I'll jsut start callinng Reno when I wake up and see what's shakin at the Martino residence, I've gotten lucky like that before.

Pffffffsssssssssssssssssss!!!

I've seen similar sized knives referred to as Biltongs by another (now gone) khukuri vendor. Get these while Bill has them, they are mighty kool!

Thanks for the offer of the 5000 lovelies. We'll just have to take a trip over there in my private jet and see who I fall for. Don't worry, it's armed so we can clear out any Maoists who get in the way.

Now we can call you Uncle Bilton...seems to fit.

Pretty neat looking little knife. Maybe you should have named them Hiltonkhuk or something with a lot of ring to it.:D

Biltong is a cured meet in South Africa, somewhat like your'e "Jerkey" but made with any type of game meat.

Very tatsy and a sharp knife comes in handy if you actually want to eat it - unless you have teeth like Bill the Cat !!

Biltong

I've never heard of a biltong. Anybody know anything about it. The "Bilton" looks like just a little khukuri to me.

That was definitely one of the more memorable sales pitches I have ever heard here.

They say khukuris can do just about anything, but I'll admit that I'd never even considered the unique challenges faced by cross-dressers in the realm of concealed carry.

Maybe we all come back as sherpa girls, who knows?

If I have to come back as a Sherpa girl and put up with somebody like me forget it. I'll just stay in the Bardo.

 Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. SHUCKS :grumpy:

Shows what happens when you go on vacation for a few days.

That's it.

From now on all vacations must be coordinated with Bill's.

Sending my wife a memo on this.

Uncle Bill, is there any way to request/special order a couple of these? Here's the source of my infatuation with them; Texas law states you can have as big a knife as you want, as long as you are actively participating in hunting, camping, or some other outdoor activity where the knife is considered a reasonable part of your gear. For everything else (except police/military duties) the maximum legal blade length that can be carried is 5 1/2", 3" if concealed. These Bilton/Biltong khukuris are nothing less than "street legal" carry khuks, that bridge the gap between a Kagas Katne and a 12" Siru/AK. That notion has me much intrigued.
