The Bilton Khukuri -- pix and deal.

Uncle Bill:

I'll take one from either source (as the group decides).

Having said that, I know the HI Kami's quality will be superior and prefer an HI Bilton.

If horn is an option from the HI Kami's, I'd definitely opt for horn and gladly pay an up-charge for it.

My check's in the mail, no seriously, it really is. I'm going to make a scabbard cover out of an old blue jean pant leg for "urban camouflage" and wear the dang thing everywhere.

I see some folks are ordering two or three of 'em, I assume for gifts. Mine are both gifts......for me! My "odometer" clicks off another year this month, and these are my birthday gift to myself.
Why two? One to keep pretty because I'll eventually wind up giving it to a friend or family member, and the other one will no doubt be pulling lots of KP.;)

Too bad the Boy Scouts can't carry sheath knives now.

That would be just the right size & 20 would be just enough for my old troop.

:D

might not be a bad stock item? I don't know what the profit margin on these is, but they seem a nice middle ground between a kagas katne and a 12in khuk. Seem to sell well in any case...

Holler at all of us that're on Pen's list when/if they arrive :) BTW, thanks to Pen for compiling the requests...

I found this explanation for the 'biltong khukuri':

'This is the smallest steel blade Khukuri and is used for cutting vegetables and meat in the kitchen. This Khukuri is named 'Biltong' , because it is a very popular knife for south Africans, where most of these knives are exported. Biltong means 'Dry Meat' for the Africans. It has 5" long blade and 3" long wooden or horn handle. The sheath is made of Buffalo leather. This Khukuri weighs 75 grams.'

You about gave me a heart palpitation Beoram, I thought maybe some news had come in on the next batch of the little boogers. I'm pre-paid for two, one for my own messkit and the other for my daughter next chance she gets to see me. She's dang near a grown woman now at 16, and gets to do all the "girl stuff" she wants down in Florida, but you can hear the wistfulness in her voice when she talks about Texas and hiking Enchanted Rock with her old daddy.

Not to get this post off topic... ;)

I may be headed to Enchanted Rocks this weekend. Heading off to visit my friend in Victoria; flying into San Antonio Friday. Good to know it comes with a recommendation.

Tohatchi, you like cave crawling? If you do, you will definitely like the one that starts up at the summit of Enchanted Rock and disgorges you down near it's base. Wear old jeans, sturdy boots you don't mind getting scuffed, and carry at least one extra light secured to your person by a lanyard. If you don't like spiders, bats, tight places, OR crawling through tight places on your belly with spiders, possibly bats, crawling on you, then don't bother.

Once you get done getting close to nature, jump in the auto, drive due south to Fredericksburg, and get close to some good German food and locally brewed beer.Trust me on this one, I wouldn't steer you wrong.
