The Bk1... Worth it?

Holy bleep! The warrior's seller is asking $750 for it!

In reflection, and looking at Moose's comparison (in which the brute only beat the bk2 at chopping!) I have decided to forgo the brute. So sad, oh we'll.

Enjoy it, spydercobenchmadekai (wow, that was a mouthful). Hope you win!

I'm the BK1 bidder...;) If you want it, you only have to bid $201...and I promise I won't bid again...

I do promise that if anyone else wants it, I will not bid again...so for $201 it can be yours.

lemme guess. You bid on it on impulse and then realized you were about to drop $200 on one knife. :D I've been in similar spots. Discretionary or not, that's not small change for most people.

See, this is what happens at your age when all your cash is discretionary. I've spent that much in a single trip to the grocery store.....now, if only we could stop eating (and taking showers, and heating the house and paying the mortgage......) maybe I could justify that kind of cha-ching for a single knife. But I'd rather get a 4, 10 & a 17 for the same amount...and still have some grocery money left over. I'm not saying I never will, but at this time I'd rather have a collection of Beckers rather than a collectible Becker.

Discretionary moneys is the best moneys.

Well, not exactly an impulse. I had actually seen the BK1 in teh "Database" sticky, but I had never thought that I would be able to find one. I then bid, but I felt bad for making the OP think he couldn't get the knife.

If I win, I'll have a cool piece of BK&T history. Otherwise, I'll have $200. :)

Side note: on ebay a blackjack Machax is going for $479.99 as a starting bid, and a blackjack bk2 for $279.99. I think that's A little ridiculous, don't you? No bids yet.

Yeah. They've been there since at least October and no one is "buying" the seller's starting price, either.

i used to have a hard time spending even $50 for a used older Becker; $75 for a new Machax. that was it.

then some guy started buying them all up, and people noticed and prices went up

got to the point that one or two SPECIAL models, i spend over $250 for. that only happened a few times.

ah, finding NIB old merch, like a patrol machete, for $99? that hurt. looking back, lol. wow.

seriously, there are bargains to find. i bought more BK2s for $25 at a store closing than i could carry some years ago

those made good presents. too bad they were just Camillus though.

course, i've gotten older. i make more money. i kept my treasures.

some people want serious money to part with their i guess.

others are just gouging. you reward gougers, they find more stock.

daddy needs a new Humvee...

750 for a Warrior Machax????!!! As much as I would love a twin that is just ridiculous. There are always more deals, just wait. Patience is key if your shopping for the old stuff, My NIB BK6 cost 20 bucks.
Besides you really want an Effingham Brute anyways.

buy you have to live on ebay and all the shopping forums and prey on the weak and shatter dreams :D

$100ish maybe...
$200...nope!
It's a cool knife though! And I want one. :D

I find I can bear that discomfort with a great deal of fortitude. :p That and I set up feeds for every thing imaginable. You'd be surprised how many 'Mushaxes' and the like get listed.

feeeeeeeds. maybe if i was obsessed. i'm not anymore :D well, there are one or two VERY weird things i'd like to trip over, but not in any urgent way.

yeah, i see a lot of stuff listed when i look randomly... a lot of it is very silly.

don't see too many good user grade pieces at rock bottom prices, but it happens. got a Reinhardt not long ago for stupid cheap. i think that's the last one i actually spent money on Beckerwise. i shoudl get around to buying a new style 10 though.

I don't think it's worth the money from the standpoint of it being a fantastic chopper or cutter, it doesn't do anything a bk 9 wont do. If you just want it because you want it that obviously is a horse of a different color.
