I’m with you Ed. When I first looked at the picture I thought they were cavities in the wood. Guess that’s what large quantities of pain meds do to me .

He was presented with this original artwork from Disney Corporation and signed by Disney illustrator, colorist and layout artist

If GEC get's a little crack or space around the rivets, they slosh on some black epoxy, or something to fill gaps. Most gets ground off, and what's left is invinvisible

What's interesting is it almost looks like an automatic thing. Just a preemptive measure? Odd, I'll have to go check and see if I can see any on any other GECs.

I agree, it appears to be a normal process being done and not fixing any found issue with the handle scales.

That's the stuff they used on the joints of the 23 trappers. It gives them a nice strong pull!
