I don't know about most of you but when the mercury and humidity start shooting up and the weight of my clothing correspondingly goes down, I like to carry knives that won't cause my shorts to puddle around my ankles. ;)

Accordingly, I generally find room for a "shadow" or otherwise lightweight knife to be my daily companion.

This is a group shot of the knives that any of which will (most days) accompany me on my forays into the heat of NC's "Blue Ridge" summer swelter.
All of them are light, tough and sharp enough to get near any job done:

Feel free to add images of your own summertime companions.

Great lineup Elliott!

The only shadows I've ever owned are Case and Queen sodbusters, but after seeing all of the beauties that you, Vince and some others have I'm thinking I need to have Bret or Rick make one for me.

What a line up! Do you have any shots of the fourth knife with the blade open (or any/all of them for that matter)?

Very nice knives Elliott. Will you please give us an idea as to the closed length of the knives? A range would do -- say 3 5/8" to ?? What is the color of the bone on the Jerry Halfrich knife with the lanyard through the frame?

Blues, that Menefee brown micarta dogleg is about as sexy as you can get-- shadow with bird's eye pivot, long pull, swedged and with a pointy point.
I can see why you carry two or three different ones each day: so many are deserving and so few days in the week!:D:thumbup:

3.5" on the left to 4.25" on the right.

The color is a mixture of amber and brown with highlights of red and orange (and lots of translucency, especially at the edges).

Staying with the theme of light weight and traditional, check out this ROSarms Sting model.
110x18M forged stainless (they say similar to BG-42) with birch bark handle and tan micarta guard and butt.
Traditional Russian hunting knife made in Zlatoust, south Urals. 3.5" tip to guard, 8" overall length.
The birch bark handle is slightly soft, grippy and "warm." Weighs only 3.3 oz. and only 5.2 oz. in the leather sheath.

This hunter/skinner just feels terrific in the hand, light and with great ergonomics.

No doubt about it, that is one fine collection of pocket cutlery. All good choices Elliott.
