The Busse Combat Folder Has Become A Reality . . . And It Only Took 30 Years!!! . . . It Is Coming Friday, September 19, 2025 At 9:00 PM Eastern!!!

With this style of lock, I just don't understand why so many of them leave gaping holes in the handle for crap to get into. Why not design the slider thingy with side flanges or tabs that block the holes in both open and closed positions? For example, the SOG Diverge XR does this.

Before were to drunk why’s it not INFI WHAT IS THIS “BC AEB-L”? Where is it from? How did it get here?

My guess on this one is it's more rust resistant. And performance is better than INFI on a thinner blade.

Plus it's cheaper than magnacut or other super steels. The cost to machine that titanium handle in USA is very high still. So if the blade was offered in a more expensive material the sticker shock in that folder would be real. We are talking $800 to $900...which would price out a whole lot of people.

AEB-L performs well enough, with some benefits like already mentioned rust resistance and ease of sharpening. Plus if proprietary heat treat is good then that is what makes or breaks the blade at the end.

Busse AEB-L is just freakin wonderful to be quite honest, fellas
This War Dog 5 that i got in Busse AEB-L has been so fun to both work with & sharpen
It's a laser in the kitchen - that .90 version will get a lot of people cut, i imagine 😆 😎
It's really good at holding a fine edge, and it hardly takes any effort to keep it screamin' sharp - just a ceramic stone for touchups - yall will love it ...

It’s been around for a while (I don’t know how long), but it started appearing in the SYKCO lineup in 2023…

Our BLOCK lock is NOT a crossbar lock. They are completely different.

I did look up the "Kershaw Diverge" but only found the SOG Diverge which is completely open on all four sides. The plastic button does cover the thumb lock hole, but I would guess that it is for cosmetic appearances only or to make the injection molded plastic button easier to mount.

Secondly, and most important of all, blocking off the "gaping holes" means that in order to be effective at blocking all dirt and debris from getting into your knife, you would need to block off the largest "gaping hole" which is the blade slot that allows all kinds of dirt and debris inside of your folder.

The "gaping holes in the handle for crap to get into" should be looked at as gaping holes that allow your knife to be cleaned out much easier with compressed air.

Hope this helps. Let's Drink!

what about the blade material BC AEB-L is it made in house? Like vs the infi?

I’d like to see something between GT 375 and GT 40 (3.75” to 4”)

I'd like to see a full sized Fusion handle folder with Ti scales inlayed with G10 & Micarta options, Ti backspacer/pommel with Nuclear meltdown and a variety of INFI blades.. on washers

Thanks Jerry. It may not be a cross-bar lock, but that doesn't change the fact that there's holes in the handle that stuff can get into. And yes, when any folder is open, stuff can get in there, but those holes are right where the lock is, so stuff can get in while closed too. But point taken about also being easier to clean out. And sorry, meant SOG Diverge XR...I got one from Knife Rights for contributing earlier this year. Liked it more than I thought I would...very fidgety.

Guess What? I have a fever...

and the prescription calls for more HOLES!

As in TALON HOLES!

I wonder why Busse stopped using magnacut though. Since the galley rat was offered in magnacut.

Here, I understand it is to keep the cost down. And as a silcer that steel is more than sufficient. But, I wouldn't mind an LE version in more expensive steel for more moneys.

As I mentioned before that titanium handle is hella expensive. Who knows maybe there will be drop in blade later.

I'll be definitely looking at having someone to make me a baker forge blade if that's possible at that thickness. And damn everything but looks haha.

I'd take AEB-L over MagnaCut in this knife if it was properly treated to an effective hardness. My experience with AEB-L is mostly in bushcraft knives at HRC 63-64, where it absolutely rocks for woodworking. AEB-L is tougher and has higher edge stability than MC. MC has better wear resistance and coarser structure. I don't really care about corrosion resistance past a reasonable point.

Gross toughness is a non-issue with folders, especially if they have reasonably good cutting geometry. Although AEB-L has great gross toughness. So what this really boils down to is edge stability vs. wear resistance and a finer vs. a toothier edge. Far as INFI goes, the BAD at 60-62 significantly out-cuts similar INFI geometry at 58-60.

An argument can be made for 58-60 in an 8+ inch chopper. But for blades under 6 inches and certainly folders, I want a relatively thin, hard blade.

4 inch plus blade length, please !

4" as a minimum. Anything more is a bonus.

Micarta scales option would be great; LE tiger hide would be sweeeeet !!!!!!!!!!!
