The Case Barlow is BACK

No.

;) Because everyone is never happy. ;)

This thread is about Case bringing back production of their Barlow Knife pattern. Speaking solely for myself, I'm disappointed that they don't seem to be making them in the classic style like they used to.
I'd like my first Barlow with carbon steel, wood covers, and no shield.

I love Case, but will get my Barlows elsewhere.

I sure hope the yella comp is in CV steel. Here's your red bone, Topgear9.

Jeff that sure is a nice Barlow if you ever decide to get rid of it message me.

The barlow is a large, classic, higher end knife.

I have to disagree the Barlow is, always has and always will be a working mans knife and the only large ones are the "Daddy or Granddaddy" versions. Now we have seen an upswing in prices with the TC versions on the secondary market but that IMO is due to them being a highly desired collectable.

As a Barlow collector I am happy to see Case bring this pattern back to life and yes I will be buying a few.
Here's a few of Case's offerings from the past.

Personally I like the Case Barlows & I don't mind them having Shields. I'm just not a fan of the cursive script shield. My example has the long-tail Case shield and looks pretty good to me.

Edit: it's the twin to the one r redden just posted at the bottom.

Well said, Randy. I think people get the idea that Barlows are high end knives from looking at the prices of the TC Barlows, like you said.
I think Case could really make a statement by producing a well-designed Barlow at an entry level price, just like they used to be. And make some in wood for goodness sakes.

I hate to say it, but I’m not a fan of the clip blades on the Case Barlows. Something about the shape just turns me off. And I’m definitely not sold on blue covers.

I might be in for a smooth antique bone with spear blade though. It’s the only one that even remotely intrigues me.

I'm all in for the patriotic kirinite - NEVER thought I'd ever see that side on a factory Barlow ... dig it. I've never been afraid of color in a knife & in contrast with the majority, never liked the stamping on the barlow bolsters - like the look of a clean polished bolster ... never had a problem with shields on my barlows either ...

Case is out of touch. No shields should be on a Barlow. That is something a company without any knowledge of history would do.

I'm with you, I just can't get over the shield and can't see how anyone would like a shield on a barlow. I shy away even from the Rough Rider barlows with shields, at <$10!

I agree that there is a place in the market between Rough Rider and GEC for an American made Barlow.

Absolutely. So a US made barlow between $20 and $100. Not a tall order.

Agreed, but I think CASE should revive their roots by using the CASE XX stamp on the bolster. I also prefer the Spear but that's my preference for all Barlows as I suspect it's closer to the original early c19th version..:)

CASE XX or just XX.

I hope Case does not delay the release of the knife for too long after the preview next month. It is nice to peak people’s interest but if you have to achieve reasonable delivery or those same folks can loose interest.

I think the Tribal Locks came along swiftly and that line seems to be well received and keeps expanding. I was hoping a smaller Tribal Lock would be on the near horizon as well.
