Taco is still making mini-bike frames and kits. Those little 5hp honda motors make a tremendous ruckus once you get them set up right.

No Pluto - but other fun things. :D

Good mornin' y'all.
Liam, That is cool! I will have to go check those mini bikes out.
I just need to drag my tired ass through one more day at work.... I can DO IT! :p

Afternoon.

Trying to make it through the day, down one person today so trying to keep from getting behind on orders.

Y'all make it great!

Hey guys!

I'm beat today! Immediately after work I had to rush to the post office before they closed, then go home and grab tools to go clean out an extra bedroom for my best friends grandma which meant pulling the carpet up! Found a slight mold issue, wet sub floor, and got all the carpet loaded onto the roof of my Tahoe to take to the dumpster. Afterwards took the wife, kid, friend and her fiancé out to dinner, then out to doughnuts for dessert. Been going nonstop since about 7 am!

In other news, I started playing around with some bullet resistant acrylic I cut into cubes to make some fake ice cubes! Decided about 9pm last night to go play in the shop, it was still about 80° in there and I'm standing there with a blow torch flame polish pieces of acrylic. I was soaked in sweat, lol! So I stopped after the first one. Will make more and try different thing out, but I think it came out ok for my first attempt.

Should be obvious, but before is on the right and after is one the left. I know this may not make much sense to some of you, but these things are not cheap to buy for practicing beverage photography. Real ice melts under studio lights, gets cloudy, isn't repeatable or predictable. Needless to say, I am saving myself possibly a couple hundred bucks by making some of these rather than buying! Also, it's fun to smash things with a hammer and chisel sometimes, all for the sake of art!

Anyways, hope y'all made it a most excellent day!

Nice X! Use glycerine in a spritz bottle to simulate condensation on the outside of the glass.

X, that fake ice cube looks pretty good.
Wilson, enjoy that time off... I know I am going to!
Have a killer weekend y'all!

^^ Liam, already got it! I also have my own mixture for coloring water so I'm not wasting alcohol on set up shots. I probably won't get finished with these until this weekend then I'll get to put them under the scrutiny of the lens at f/45 or so:cool: might try making some smaller amorphous ice shapes too. We'll see where the hammer and chisel take me!

This is not my photo, but this is the type of photography these acrylic ice cubes are used for...

Well guys, here's a cell phone test shot with one acrylic ice cube. I think it looks halfway decent right now, still need to do some really fine detailing in the smallest crevices but it is serviceable as is currently. Need some more to better fill the glass too. I have plenty more acrylic to to use too!

Nice! It's certainly getting there. I always used cold brewed tea to get the color without wasting the good stuff.

You know, I should send you a PM, about maybe getting a couple of those cubes from ya - I don't think my old ones are as good as yours.

Liam, you know where to find me... finished another one today too. Will post some pics probably over in the photo forum when I get all the gear out. I need to sketch out some layout first though.

Just finished some pizza, now I'm relaxing.

Make it great fellas!

Eta: Oh, and I use water and a little imitation vanilla extract for color. I don't waste the good stuff either.
