Bobby, That doesn't look very "mini" to me...:D
Sloth & Ben , there is the ol' Coke can fishing real trick. You can probably combine the cane pole technique and the Coke can technique..... you could call it the Coke Cane Pole :D

Enjoy y'all weekend guys!

This place is outta control!!! :D

Ben I know one important thing with the bamboo is cutting from around this time of year to the Winter when the bamboo is dryer. The strength can vary an incredible amount depending on when it is cut. I would cut mine, dry it and maybe varnish it then add a tip or even lash some line to the end. Leave your line the length of the pole and just cast by swinging the and out like a pendulum. This only works good when you can do well with a shorter cast... we would use worms or minnows for bait with a fixed float and catch loads of bass and panfish. You will also need a good lawn chair to do this correctly. :D

So you guys know me... as a kid I'd have like 6 rods set up with bells clipped to the ends. I probably would have been selling fish online if I could have... lmao!!!

I'm going to get in some fishing soon... I'm working on knives today though! If I am lucky I will have a big pile of Ti coming in the mail today. :D

Thank you Daniel! I'll need to find some bamboo first, I kind have some idea where I can find some good quality ones which only 20 minutes away in Arcadia area. It's gonna be a fun little project! :D

Count me in too! ;)

Have a great weekend guys!

Afternoon fellas!

Well, fishing was a bust today. Not because of the fish, but because of the boy, lol! For some reason his attention span was only about 2 seconds long and he forgot to put his listening ears on... needless to say, he whined so bad he even started himself crying! Just you wait Daniel, it's gonna happen to you too....

Did catch a few 'gills though. Was a bit tough because the tides are huge today, and it was ebbing quite hard, add in about 12 knots of wind and float fishing becomes real difficult. Located a school of small gills right under a yellow river Lilly on the bank, all little guys, but fun anyways. Zyler is now just playing in his room like nothing happened today, lol!

Time for a splash of bourbon.

I like cane poles, they're very nice to cast if designed properly! I have a couple cane fly rods and they sure do have a different feel to them! I also have an old fiberglass fly rod I've been thinking of making into a jigging rod for bluegill. The extra length (it's 8'6") helps get out over brushy banks.

Did some rod repair last night too, my very first custom rod my great uncle built for me back in the 90's had the bottom ferrule come loose. So I had to strip the wrapping off, rewrap and finish it. Came out ok, didn't use my dad's rod cradle, just a cardboard box with V notches cut into it. Ran the thread through a heavy book for thread tension and did a temporary sealer coat with clear nail polish. It's easier to remove later on when I want to really do it right.

Also got an order for a knife last night. Should be easy enough to do how he wants it. Gonna be fun!

Making it great!

Sunday mornin' comin' down......
X, did I ever show you that old bamboo fly pole that I got from The Slasher? It looks pretty cool to me but I know next to nothing about these things.
D, what are you going to call the book? :D
Wilson, a big ol' howdy to you.
I made a g10 knuck awhile back that I think came out ok. I need to punch someone ( purely for testing purposes ) to see how it works. :D
