How do you stop a fixie when going down hill? I can slow it down by using the pedals but how do I stop the bike for a emergency situation? If I can stop it then I can go really fast which would be awesome!

In short, you don't! Learn to skid, practice your "S" turns through an intersection, or have Daniel carbidize some big balls for ya!

You can Ted shred with your shoes on the rear tire or skid side to side!

I rode a fixed gear all through college a while back, just never made it to the hellyer track. You race up their X?

All I know is that once you ride fixes you want to ride more so I ended up going ss 26er for a while then got a focus cyclo cross which I haven't ridden in a while.

I've ridden Hellyer, but now I have my track only wheels for sale (see signs line...). I also don't own any geared MTB anymore, just SS/MTB on a homebuilt mechanics special hodge-podge of random parts. Mix of vintage, custom built, modern, and everything else in between.

Hey there guys! This is one of the few posts I have put up but just can't seem to get it out of my head. Does anyone lets think that a larger fixed blade version of the stretch would be pretty much the coolest thing ever!?? I absolutely love my SB stretch and used it this season to dress a deer. I think it would be God's gift to hunters in fixed blade form. Okay thanks for letting me ramble I just had to get that off my chest.

One more day til the weekend!!
Happy late birthday Rolf!

Work has me swamped!! Trying to get back to knifemaking, I'm headed up to the usaknifemakers/knifedogs hammer in up in Minnesota in a week... Really looking forward to it!!

Made me a quench tank and picked up this old burner for $2 to heat the oil.

Tried a hamon/quench line on some 1084....what do ya think?

What kinda fixie, tarck or track bike are you riding BLK? I been out of the whole scene for at least 5 years so I know it prolly changed a little on what people are riding now. I rode a Mercier Kilo then got a Vigorelli and rode a Focus for a little bit. Leader at the time started to surpass Mercier since it had that MASH SF look lol.

Have you seen the movie "premium rush"? The guy who sold me the bike was inspired by that movie so he custom build it. And of course, I was inspired by the same movie so I bought it from him. :p It's a fixed gear no breaks. Weights under 16 lb without the pedals so pretty light.

I will try to upload some pix once I get rid of those ugly paint! :D

Morning you miscreants!

Headed off to shoot the long range silhouette match this morning, wish me luck!

Making it great since 1983!

Justin, that is pretty sweet!
X, a belated good luck from me too.
Ben, The quickest way to stop a track bike is the hockey stop technique. Basically, skid , whip the bike sideways, drop your inside foot, and skid/ power slide to a stop.

Fantastic avatar, D!

Morning guys! Another glorious week. Did a little work on the garage this weekend, and tried to relax. Friday was a tattoo day for the wife and I, since her friend is a local artist. Makes for a great date, haha.
