I had 53's for the .0625's. And that... was too large. Somehow. must have been runout. So I used the next step up detent ball. The .0790 or something. Looks like now, perhaps it doesnt sit deep enough. The ball sits in the hole about halfway. Something's wrong D:

Also just had pictures texted to me by my neighbor. Last Fall, someone jumped the curb at 3am and tore across our front lawn. Took out our mailbox, destroyed grass and the curb.

Someone just popped the curb, took out the new mailbox. I told the neighbor to tell the guy to stick around until I get home. I wanna have some words with him > : (

runout for sure... try a 54 next time too...

Use a washer as a depth stop when you set the ball, try closer to .O14-.O3 proud on the ball. It definitely needs to be further in. I go exactly .O14" with regular folders and around .25 with flippers. You can use a feeler gauge to set the exact depth.

I've realized that detent tuning could be a 3 hour college credit course with a 2 hour lab... lol

Don't chamfer the hole in the blade until you try the ball set deeper... if it is still popping out try to do the tiniest chamfer.

I get a load of questions from folder makers and a big one is why not a big detent... a 1/16" can literally lock the blade closed or do nothing at all so tuning is everything. I'm just barely offsetting mine and using a deeper lockbar cutout than before... a few thousandths here and there is everything.

Time to put that mailbox in with reinforced concrete...

I was thinking buy him some curb feelers!

lol have a good one X!!!

Thanks on the folders! They are really going well, I feel like I have had every problem possible while making them and conquered them all!!!! Now that I have the surface grinder and disc sander going it is helping even more.

Surface grinder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more bloody fingers! I was literally grinding my fingers down every day surfacing flats... spending more time on that than bevels for sure. Now I can grind stuff flat and go back to focusing on cool stuff...

I was able to get the detent ball in. Lockups pretty good when you slam it open. Need to work it a few hundred times maybe to get them really mated.

I gotta see this surface grinder. It sounds amazing!

Cool!

You might need to grind the lock just a tiny bit more... I'm finding that there is very minimal wear with correct lock geometry.

Your folders are so cool!!!!

Pivot inlay FTW!!!!!! You guys want pics? :D

What is a pivot inlayyyyyy!!! Teach us!

Thank you, D! I can't wait to do another folder using everything I've learned. Gonna be sweet!

Got a shipping notice yesterday from DFK! Really looking forward to the care package that's on its way. I'll post up pictures in the near future.

Y'all have a killer day!

Wait.....didn't you move? Is this guy fallowing you?! :D

Hope all you vatos are having a great 4th! The fireworks and gun shots were craaazy last night and it was only the 3rd!

I swear they do follow me!

Im beached on the couch. So much food and beer!

Im looking for my next shop purchase. Thinking disc sander. D, what do you think?

Hey guys!

Disc sanders rock! I built mine and use it every day. They work nicely for flattening stuff... I don't have a work rest but they can come in handy too, especially with no horizontal grinder.

For disc sander, do you think I need to go VFD? 1HP? More or less? They're all over the place! Was thinking definitely 10-12"

I need to look uo specs.... Beaumont disc so I can use regular redline sandpaper, I like the psa discs too but I prefer fresh paper.

VFD for sure! Pulleys would probably be cool too. You will probably want it to run pretty slow for most of the time.

I did a video on the build, it was much harder than expected mounting the motor [which sounds easy and probably should have been] but otherwise pretty easy and I saved a few hundred $$$. I know after I built it I kind if wished I bought a more turnkey unit.

The Nielson disc system is considered the best...

I need to look up the hp... mine is strong!

Good morning guys!

D,..... the tactical tape is out of stock,,,, Should I put all my tactical op's on hold until they restock?
I am pretty sure one of my neighbors was lighting off full sticks of dynamite last night.

Happy Monday! Er... Tuesday? Whatever!

Leg day. Sore as heck. Good excuse for some downtime. That means internet surfing. Speaking of that, anyone looking for a new desktop?

Lenovo Tiny! for anyone interested! Ordering one for Ash. That's a hell of a deal.

D I saw your video. I think I parted everything out. Need to get a price on VFD, but thats my next project. Great video btw!

morning peeple. summer... with kids.. YAY O_O

Lenovo tiny.. wth you can barely run windows with those specs! no moni... get a google Acer branded chromebook or something cheesy like that for $80 more... http://www.google.com/chromebook/find/

I'm waiting to save enough money for a new desktop, but really don't want to plunk down for something yet with all the summer expenses.. see if they might drop a bit for the specs I'm hoping to get...

Lots to do.. garden needs love! GEt outside you lazy bums! :D

FBC put your ops on hold yo!
