Sup guys!
That match I shot on Saturday was the toughest match I have ever shot! Top score for the match was 21 out of 40, I took 3rd with 17/40! It was crazy windy there, steady 15-18 knots with gusts to 25+ knots! 20 shots standing, 20 shots sitting. 5 shots, 3.5 minutes, one shot per target at 3 different yardage in random order called by your spotter, 1 minute break, 5 more shots in a different random order. Targets were either life size or smaller, squirrel, crow, rabbit, 2/3 size woodchuck, 1/2 size coyote. Top score standing was 6/20, I shot 5. Super fun, very challenging, and I was so impressed with the match and match director I decided to join the club even if it is in another state! My little .204 sized bullets going crazy fast sure worked well for the match too! That facility has targets out to 2200 yards as well, that's over a mile! Once I get my 30-'06 back from the gun smith (new barrel) and I get it bedded into its new stock I will be taking it up there as well, I like those long shots!
Daniel, that Randall-esque knife your doing is freaking awesome! Guard fitting is always a pain, but with brass/bronze if you under cut your tang below the ricasso you can lightly peen over the slot to get that rock solid fit then solder from the backside. Pencil lead is a great tool to keep the solder from spreading further than you want, just draw some heavy lines and it won't creep past it.
