Thanks guys! I missed first by 1 point, that's after even posting a big fat ZERO for the final string. Really irritated me shooting a zero, but there were some wind conditions I just didn't understand while on the clock.
I had about 3mph in my face (12 o'clock) at the firing line, mid range at about 300 yards it was a full value wind at about 7mph (9 o'clock), which for my shots at 550 yards I called about 4 minutes left wind. Bang, bullet impact about 3 feet right!? WTF!? Next shot, wind still about the same, adjust another 2 minutes left, impact still about 3 feet right! Damn. Turns out, there was a big thermal that developed and was pulling air at about 15mph at full value (90° to the flight path) up the slope we were shooting into! Couldn't see it in the scope, had no clue it was there! Missed all five targets for that string.
I was put into the Marksman division because I hadn't shot this match before and was an unranked shooter. So, I scored high enough to break into the next bracket, which means targets get further and smaller! I'm going to need to bring a different gun! Kinda like the scene in jaws, "you're gonna need a bigger boat."
Just got home from breakfast and a walk around the flea market. Scored a nice graphite fly rod for trout/bluegill.
Make it great!
