Well, if I ever need to pile barbell plates onto a string, and for some reason have nowhere to hang them....

...I guess I'll lament the fact that I never purchased either of those pieces.

But for now, they can hang from the actual barbell that came with them, and I'll use what I got.

Oh, and @LG&M the tanto is not the toughest, it is the most powerful!

I can think of just a few nitpicks why CS folding knives may not be for everyone:stiff Tri-Ad lock (not as friendly as a liner lock), stiff pocket clip,

I'm not really a cold steel guy. I only have a mini ak which lives on my counter for opening mail and boxes and whatever else. Recently though my wife and I were talking about getting her son a knife for his B-day and hes a big kid (adult really) and when she showed him our knives she said many of ours were small in his hands (he's like 6'4" probably) so I suggested getting a recon folder since nobody really knows which direction the company is going now and I know he'll be hard on the knife with his job. I gota say even though the knife is huge I was blown away by it when I opened it. The lock wasn't stiff at all. Maybe not as easy to disengage as my spyderco native but not hard by any means. Not even a little bit. I can say that I have a harder time closing my Gayle Bradley 2 spyderco with the liner lock since it doesnt have any cut out for it. And the pocket clip on it is fine and comparable to any other stock one I've got..and its also super super smooth opening and closing which actually surprised me. For $100 I was shocked at how much I liked it. I might actually "lose" it before his Bday lol.

the full size ak-47 is equally as good in my opinion, around the same price too

Yup, there’s a YMMV factor there as well. My full sized AK-47 and Spartan are pretty stiff, but my Voyager and Rajah 3 are fairly tame. In general though, all my CS folders have more, um, attitude than my Spyderco lockbacks lol.

Love it. Awesome knife.

That video was incredibly difficult to watch, much shittier production quality and awful music than before. Watching Andrew Demko do it in his shop was like being there in person, this new style just sucks. Real turn off.

Cold Steel makes tough knives for sure but general I prefer my thinner, sharper Spydercos. Loved my Recon 1 for quite a few years but eventually preferred sharpness to toughness. My knives are plenty tough for cutting. I pry with pry bars, and chisel with chisels.
I still recommend CS for those that might snap other blades using the wrong tool for the job.

I keep almost ordering one of these, if that makes any sense. But I haven't, so I'll have to pretend my 4 Max Scout is the toughest and strongest for now.

Why did I waste the money on those Busse fixed blades? ;)

Cold Steel has the Broken Skull, which is thin behind the edge and still has the strong lock. Just has a stupid name, but otherwise cuts pretty good and it weighs right at 3 oz .

why didnt he name the new company AlwaysArmed instead of NeverUnarmed

also i have the sr1 lite and at 6.3 oz its pretty big and heavy, the 4max is over 10 oz so if you want something big and solid but are worried about weight the sr1 might be better in that aspect.

also i wanted to add that i feel the rajah 3 folder is one of the most underrated rated knives around, its a very solid folder with a great design that is very affordable and reliable, its kind of like a mini spartan

Because someone already has the trademark on Always Armed

soc_monki; thats why i sold mine i had both of them, its too damn thick for slicing Its the number 1 blade that can so use a Tom Krein regrind! I replaced it with the gunsite folder; AUS10,much better thinner blade for slicing and the handles arent so blocky they are much more rounded .

I'm keeping mine simply for the fact it's stupid thick, sucks at slicing, but is fun to hack at stuff in the yard with. Plus it was cheap so no worries if I hurt it. Sometimes a knife doesn't need to be "good". It's OK to have something that is ridiculous but fun!

Yeah since i sold it im thinking about at least getting the lite version back.It is pretty cool for the price.Spears, polearms and blowguns ;it should be called Neverunarmed500yearsago.com

liner lock was too weak
Fine for "spreading mustard" but sketchy for any real hard use , IMO . :p

Compared to the Tri-ad lock , liner locks are just generally pretty structurally weak and failure prone . That's just a fact .:thumbsup::thumbsup:
