The comfy handle list

I’d like compile a list of comfy handles to try if I don’t already own one. The handle is almost more important than the blade, to me. It’s the contact point. One can usually make any blade work, but not any handle.

What are your most comfortable handles? By most comfortable I mean something that feels like it was crafted for your personal hand by God almighty, not just “a nice handle”.

Pics are a plus if you have em. Thanks, gents.

For me, it’s the M6 (M9, etc) and the Hell Razor II. Those two make the clouds part and the angels sing.

The “Mag” handled models were awesome! I don’t recall models (original Hell Razor era), but they were dreamy. The Meaners were really sweet too!

Mostly agreed, but:

That knife came to me for a regrind. It was 1/4" stock, and literally 3/16" behind the edge! Blade was useless.

This came to me today for a regrind, and I noted that the handle is particularly comfortable:

Well that's a pretty high standard, and nothing I have ever encountered could meet that. The one above is very nice though. Owner thinks it's a Steel Heart. I don't know Busse models to confirm or deny that.

ETA: given where we are, I assume the OP is asking specifically about Busse handles.

The cold steel ultimate hunter is quite comfortable for a folder.

Which is not a normal folder feature.

My top 10 in no particular order:
SH-1 magnum type (ASH-1, DDSH, Liberty Heart)
SFNO magnums
Beating Heart
Most Fusion
SAR
Hand-smoothed: Nano Fusion Warpath
Stonewashed handles: Forefather
SHBM
Team Gemini
Resiprene

By “one can usually make any blade work, but not any handle” I meant any blade that’s an actual blade, not a beveled piece of bar stock. Busse doesn’t turn out 3/16” BTE shit like that.

YES, I’m asking specifically about Busse (and kin) handles.

The knife in your pic that you said had a comfy handle is an ASH II. Anniversary Steel Heart 2. I’ve been looking for one of those for a while. I have a BGASH and it has the same handle, but magnums with liners. It’s pretty comfy, but a bit too thick for the angels to sing.

I really like Jerry's take on Coffin handles.

Triangular-like handles are my favorites, particularly as on HG55.

A handle shaped like that with a great front guard and no finger grooves is hard to beat. You get locked in fore & aft with nearly any grip. Easy to index from your sheath or if you lay it down and reach for it without looking.

The Boom Parang is similar to this profile and super ergo, but it lacks a forward guard, but that's fine with me because it is primarily a chopper.

I have a feeling the TGS19 is gonna be the same for me.

Agreed. And didn't mean to imply that is a Busse or kin if that's what you thought I was saying. I can't remember the name of the company but it's a Hudson Bay knife that actually is supposed to be a knife. I was quite indignant when I got it in hand.

Nah, that’s not what I thought at all. I knew it was not a Busse knife. All I was saying is I meant “assuming the blade is at least functional,”.

Depends on size and purpose. Weight and balance point play a role, too. Let's say, we are talking about a light, ~8" blade.

For general purpose, this one is perfect:

For heavier stuff, mostly hammer grip (chopping, etc), these ones are very comfy (and being front heavy is a plus):
