The Contenders...

Hey Uncle_Jarvis. Didn't you just sell this one.?:p

I'll never sell this one..

First off you did an awesome job here brutha! :D However, I really am starting to dislike this thread. :(

Why? Because now I want an Old School Ratweiler, a Chopweiler, and a HOGFSH. ;)

I think I have found my perfect fit in a mid sized blade in the NO-E. Done and done.

So if I am looking for chopping power I want to go serious. It looks like the Weilers and the Mistresses and the HOGFSH all fit the bill. Being a city boy and all I think my modded FFBM will more than cover all my knife chopping needs for life. This thread just confirms it is a good choice.

Props to Eric and the Swamp for helping you out with the Rat. ;)

Again, super job. Do you mind if I put a link on our blog to this thread? I think people will get a lot out of it. :)
Sure you can link to this! It would be an honor :o. I was just having fun and wanted to share. Hopefully some folks got something out of it, good or bad.

Done and Done! Thanks man.

Heheheh(Beavis laugh :p). I have done the same many times. The INFI addiction knows not logic. Just hunger. :D

Agreed  The HOGs are a fickle bunch. Personal favorites tend to change weekly or even daily LOL!!! :D

Now you need to try an old and new AK, Ruck, SHBM, SHII, and the Chuckchete, only thing is if you originally had started with the Chuckchete, all the rest of the knives would only get two chops to try and cut thru!!!

Hey, were not fickle, we want ten of each knife, we just can't always afford ten of each! ;)

I don't know man......10 is almost too modest of a number for some of you HOGs. You guys make me sick :barf: I'll get there someday :D

I'll do it if someone can lend me an Old AK, a Ruck, an SHBM, and SHII and a Chuckete!!

All I have is my lowly AK from the last batch at the BCS.

How's that wrist feeling about now? ;)
Stupid thing is that I did all these tests with a torn tendon in my middle finger and 2 bruised bones in my pinky and hand. So I never felt any pain in my wrist, just in my beat up right hand... :thumbdn:

On the whole, hand is getting back to normal a little now...

Man I totally would have loaned you my SR crash axe for the challenge had I seen this thread earlier. It might be at a bit of a disadvantage since it was designed for sheetmetal and such and not 2x4's. This was a great read, even if it was 2 months old!

Also to consider are the angles used to chop for each knife. I have noticed that if I chop more perpendicularly the path of destruction is more narow, as seen in the ASH1 above. Where as if I widen the choppin area larger chunks will be romoved such as is seen in the with the RW result above.

I will say that the handle on the ASH1 tore my pinky up nicely. I am betting that the handle on the RW would not do this.

I am happy to see the power of the RW re-confirmed. Again. I think it was Schuey who compared the RW and SH-E and the RW won out for him. It is THE SR knife that I have considered to be a "One Knife Only" deal. Do you think it would make much difference if it were INFI instead of SR101? Or would the differences, aside from corrosion resistance, be to small to tell outside of strict testing conditions? And how does the newer Chopweiler stack up here. I think one factor that has prevented me from buying a RW is I am a little unclear as to how close in size to my FFBM it is. I'm thinking they are close so would rather just grab the FFBM but maybe there is a bigger difference than I realize.

I need me an old school RW now! ;) I'm on the prowl now. ;)
Errrrrm. While that sounds great and all. It twern't me. You must be thinking of some other Oinker. Like Clemens in front of Congress, you must've "misremembered", TL... ;)

Sweeeeet tests. Thanks for posting these pictures. My only real question, Why did the 2x4 last more than like 10 chops with the LE, or the other bigger choppers? I was surprised that 25 chops were not cutting into the concrete by then.

TAG TAG TAT!!! Man, I spent an hour looking for this thread yesterday. D'oh!

And, man I would LOVE to see a comparison between the different versions of the FSH (Heavy Heart, FSH, HOGFSH, FSHLE, etc...)

I'm trying to decide between the SFNO and the FSH and one of the duties, besides regular stuff, would be light chopping.

I missed this when I was out for almost a month with Flu.

Great testing Phil  I'm going back to read it again.

I would say for three reasons...

1) Continuous chopping probably provided less accuracy.
2) My semi-busted up hand
3) Height of the 2x4s was a little high, probably at my lower chest, so impact wasn't and the strong point of the chopping swing

I thought of this when I looked back over this thread last week. I am sure I could lower the chop count once my hand is completely healed AND I change the height/position of the 2x4s. I may try this again this Summer with some variances...

On the whole, I think the test was even across the knives. Same chopping style, and same busted up hand... :(

Oh, and great question BTW!

Oooops. :o Sorry man. Perhaps it was 360 or Trumby. Jeeeeze my memory is slipping. And I think it was discussed over at the Swamp to boot. Anywho, sorry for the confusion. :p
