The Danny Collection 2.0 released 10/19/2023

I'm curious if this is something Buck will start doing more of moving forward? I don't particularly like the idea of not knowing the actual amount made of these limited run knives before ordering. Not a deal breaker in this case by any means, but it is something to keep in mind for the future.

...And now I also will go back to enjoying the pictures of these fine knives!

My Danny's haven't shipped out yet but it looks like the advertised number of knives made are not matching up to the COAs, at least on the expert hunter. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Hmmm...someone could buy based on what they thought were a very limited production, as advertised in the email, only to find out later that amount is greater. The email does state "ONLY XX MADE" for each of those knives. Not complaining, and I hope these releases continue, but appears to be misleading to the customer since they would not be able to see the COA quantity until after the purchase. Could correct by either stating "ONLY XX AVAILABLE" or better yet use the true number in the "ONLY XX MADE".

What is the quantity printed on the COA for the 907?

Anyway, I'll crawl back under my rock now. ;)

They match but we didn't place all of the knives on the website, some were set aside for the Factory Store and others for employees that were interested in purchasing them. The COA is correct for the amount of knives built.

I call this issue - lying to your customers. Misleading, bait and switch, dishonest . . . etc.

The issue is about honesty and accuracy. And also the number difference, no matter how small. Ask yourself, what number difference is "OK". Everyone will have a different answer, mine is, there should be no difference in the actual number produced & sold to the public from the number printed on the COA and / or sent out in the email.

This second collection of Danny Peretti knives totals 238 knives by COA. Using the Buck email - 197 total. These numbers should not be different. The Buck email specifically listed the quantity made. The email uses the word "ONLY", as in no more than what is listed here in this email.

As Tecate said, some people are buying based on quantity produced. I do. It is one of the variables I consider when making a purchase. I would definitely be mad (G-rated version) if I purchased the 505, thinking 38 were made but the reality is 60 were made ! Yes, to me this matters - a lot.

If you were reporting number errors like this at your job, you most likely would (should) be fired. I think Buck is doing damage to their hard earned reputation, especially if issues like this continue. And, is this a new issue or has Buck been using similar practices.

It seems like these inaccurate numbers were an intentional decision based on Buck knives Inc response quoted above (although, I'm not entirely sure I understand that response as he mentions the "website", not the email).

If you deliberately say this is a one of a kind, or only 10 made, and then print that information on a COA, that information needs to be true. As should the email your company sends out. If not, you are lying. If the numbers between the two do not match, then you are lying.

The COA numbers listed below are from posts in this thread. The 112 I purchased, received today and I can verify the number on the COA says "1 of 98 PRODUCED".

EMAIL 503 Prince - "ONLY 45 MADE". Actual number made listed on COA - 60

EMAIL 505 Knight - "ONLY 38 MADE". Actual number made listed on COA - 60

EMAIL 907 Expert Hunter - "ONLY 19 MADE". Actual number made listed on COA - 20

EMAIL 112 Ranger Lochsa - "ONLY 95 MADE". Actual number made listed on COA - 98

Well that's a weird sales practice. On such a limited run?

Danny collection (bonus 1st Leatherman with Magnacut blade):

Beautiful handle on the 907, but the blade barely has a bevel on one side and is butter knife sharp. This would be considered an easy fix, but D2 is not fun to get a bevel and sharpen in my experience.

This one will be going back and I am pretty sure they cannot "repair" it since the bolster has a deep divot/grind mark just before the G10 inlay. Can't really picture it well, but that whole side of the bolster is rounded off way more than the other side.

Both the 503 and 505 are excellent fit and finish.

Great collection. Really nice match on the 503 and 505 (luck in the matching handles or maybe most of them look this way?).

My 112 has a similar problem. Same exact area, grind marks and a rough edge where the bolster meets the G10. Yours looks worse in the picture.

QUESTION - for you and anyone else, is the G10 level / smooth with the bolsters ? On each side of mine, the G10 is slightly lower than the bolsters. At first glance you don't see it, but it is more than easily felt when moving your finger across - it is very noticeable, almost like it was a choice. Otherwise, I can't understand how Danny could have missed the problem.

The G10 is slightly lower on mine as well. You can't see it but you can feel it with your finger.

edit: it is barely perceptible and doesn't concern me
