Nice! Looks like someone dyed black one of the Buck Custom Sheaths offered (in blister packs) at the time (80's-90's?). I have one for my One-Liner 118 that is still in the original tan color. OHI dug through the herd remembering I have this one. 1998 with a custom sheath.

It’ll make a great giftThis one is leaving the reservation tomorrow, just packed it in the truck with some bird hunting gear. One of my favorite company VP's is retiring, great guy, has taken me on many deep sea fishing and upscale bird hunts over his time in the company - heading to our last one tomorrow. He is retiring young to pursue several bucket-list hunting adventures around the world while he still has the stamina to do it (he's twelve or thirteen years younger than me). Going to miss him because he is a great guy and a great hunter to share the field with. Giving him my only D2 Buck 118 to skin his mountain sheep with (his next hunt). OH

Years ago on this forum, I read these custom sheaths, including the 110 & 112 sheaths shown below, were made by a local saddle shop near the Buck's production facility in the 1980s. I have one for my 112. They're built to withstand nuclear war. What’s the story on this style of sheath?
They look well made. Sheaths of the past were better made in my opinion. I recently ordered a 119 fold over sheath in which I was unhappy with. My collection of 118's is at least partially the result of my time spent looking over this thread you started. I have hemmed and haw'd over selling off all 118's and just stick to collecting 112's. I decided to work toward filling a display case with 118's. I have space for 6 or 7 more.Very nice Don, you have some great examples of the 118. OH
That’s the spirit, we have to keep this pattern alive and maybe return it to regular production.
