The DesRosiers are back in the forge and headed to San Antonio!

Nice work flowing from your shop.

The Talisman is freaking me out a little. Don and I talked last week as my spot in his order line is coming up quick. We chatted about a couple of different folder and fixed blade possibilites and I said I'd be back with him soon. I looked over my Hanson collection last night to see what ideas I could come up with that are signature Hanson but with a slight twist.

Don, my plan was to call you this afternoon and discuss a fixed blade Scary Tac.

Haley, you beat me to it!!! Love seeing the concept as I was imagining it last night. Just too coincidental and freaky :love-struck::cool:

I had to do a double take as Don's old maker's mark was "DH", the D with some space before an H below it. My brain was on processor overload as I stared at Haley's knife that I had just been dreaming of as the overlaid letters in reverse were messing with my head.

Rob, Thanks for the kind words, I was very struck by the Scary Tac as well, love how feisty it looks. I named my knockoff after the pet porcupine Adam mentioned above, seemed like it was her style. Really enjoyed the links you sent, thanks!

Weird eh Rob! Maybe I'll do a fixed inspired by Haley, HD? :D

Don, thanks for making such inspiring work! I hope you know I'm not trying to trade on your good reputation, just giving credit where it's due. Maybe if I can sell a few dozen knock-offs I could afford my very own girl sized Tac. "When you wish upon a starrrr..."

No problem at all Haley, I'm honored that you are inspired! You did very good with that one.

Very glad to see you both back in the shop making cool stuff!

Haley, hoping you and Adam have a great show in San Antonio (I know you will)! Really good to see you back at the forge.

Don, a Tac for the ladies...I like the idea.

Last but not least our apprentice will be coming with us. Vanessa is a longtime friend, she's been up learning to forge blades and helping us insulate the shop for a month or so, she just turned 17. Here's some of her work.

Terrific, your influence is clearly at work here. She has a sharp future ahead her and you guys too!

Jeff

You got a very talented apprentice, great job on all 3 knives (the last one is my favorite though..) .
Good luck to all 3 of you in San Antonio!

Thank you so much Adam & Haley for teaching Vanessa you amazing forging skills! But most of all your loving attitude and grace that comes with your teaching. It's so fun for her to be a girl and yet still forge! You both teach her so much more than forging. As Vanessa's parents we are very thankful to you both.

Very nice, Vanessa. Heck of a start. Sounds like you're having what many people would consider the experience of a lifetime. Hauling water and splitting wood, too, I bet.

Your right on that Bob, not only does she split wood, she farms, fixes tractors, drives tractor, she cattle drives for local cattle ranches, and she's runs track and is state javelin thrower! And she ball room dances. Lol

Wow. Vanessa is off to a great start. Those knives look really nice.

Having good teachers helps a lot. I look fwd to seeing more.

Tad

Congrats to Adam DesRosier!! His keyhole hunter won "Best Damascus" award at the ABS Expo. He made me buy it just to take this picture. It obviously does no justice to the knife but it was professionally photographed at the show, which I hope Adam will post.
