This is three views of a pile-side piece, not yet fully buffed. Hopefully there are more coming later!
I like the densely-random jigging!!
Charlie- i'm liking your new Avatar! Looking good!
Charlie a quick question Sir..... in your plans that you envisage when you are about the re-awaken such a great Traditional Pattern- such as the 48 in this case, do you actually sit down and discuss with Bill the actual detail of the jig work - for example how deep, the pattern of the actual jigging etc? OR do you leave certain elements with the man on that side of things and unleash him at a point in your creations trusting in how much you know Bill and his genius when he is at work?
I'm far from an expert, but my guess is that they'll be after the improved trappers. Charlie said they'd be last (in this thread somewhere I think) which I thought could mean last of single blades, but now I'm assuming last of the entire 48 run.According to GECs front page, they are moving on to the Improved Trappers! Does that mean the Diamond Jacks are done and shipping today??!!!??
Well, there is no such thing as directing or unleashing Bill. He directs everything he does. The best I can do, is ask/suggest what I'd like to see, and send him pictures if possible.
He would like nothing more than to nearly reproduce some of the classic historical jigging that we see in our beloved old cutlery, but that is easier said than done. I am happy to see his re-interpretations of Peachseed, and Rodgers bone.
Frankly I prefer them to be slightly different; paying tribute but not duplicating.
I think the two colors I have asked for may be closer in appearance than I had hoped. Sue tells me both will be darker, with slight difference in tone. Beautiful and slightly distinct I like to think!
When ordering an SFO, there is definitely an element of surprise every time! It is fortunate that Bill likes good-looking knives as much as we do, and runs a competent ship!
