"The" discussion on clones, homages, and IP theft.

You could go somewhere else. We don't want clones here. Don't promote them, don't sell them etc. It's wrong and that's a fact. Not our fault they can get away with it. We're taking a stand.

There are so many original designs that are affordable. Pick one and don't pick the clone.
I think you misread my post.

Gosh darn, golly gee, tarter sauce, I like THE capitals better! Any way, i'd wager both sides of this debacle are solidified in their positions therefore the chance of this thread changing the course of clone threads is nil.

I think this rule from the excahge says it all.

Fakes/Homages-
As fakes and homage items are a legal gray area and obviously hurt the hobby
This is the policy of the forum. If you disagree you are wrong and will be told so every single time. Question is, if you disagree why are you here? Go somewhere else where this garbage is fine.

"My suggestion is that we use this thread to state our opinion on the subject of clones, homages, IP theft, and any other moral or political stance one might take on a manufacturer or a knife model that might offend your sensibilities Once you have stated your opinion, then all you need to do is refer to your post in this thread and not make a huge speech or thread crap and not destroy what might otherwise be a useful discussion."

Please read.

I already read your entire ludicrous post, but thanks anyway.

I'm really torn here.

Part of me wants to write a respectful, carefully worded, intellectual post discussing the damage and danger of clone knives. But rationally, what can I possibly say that hasn't been said ad infinitum?
Part of me just wants to post before the lock in a thread doomed to a rapidly decaying orbit.

In before the lock.

Oh, and I disagree with the OP premise. There's no way a single statement concerning clones or counterfeits can apply to all possible situations where it might need to be raised on a knife forum.

I like this idea. Instead of expressing my opinions in various threads, I'm going to create different threads for all of my opinions and then link to them into these various threads.
Dude, that's awesome! You could have a whole sub-forum!

I've stayed out of these threads lately as it seems everyone already has their minds made up and will defend their opinion to the ends of the earth. With that said, I think that if a company lacks the motivation or innovation to create unique designs they will most likely lack the motivation to ensure proper quality control and implementation of a warranty of some kind. I've seen the lack of quality control in the few Ganzo's I've handled.

I can appreciate what the OP is trying to accomplish by de-cluttering threads with a single reference thread; but it won't work with counterfeits, knock-offs, ect. It would give the illusion that enthusiast approve of that type of garbage, which we do not. Ie, we are not creating 'safe-spaces' for people to discuss or enjoy their clones/knock-offs/ect.

I can also appreciate that there is no clear line in the sand for what is appropriate and not appropriate since so many design cues have been shared between so many makers and companies over the years. There are the blatantly obvious and those less so. One needs to be in the hobby for a while to get a good grasp of what is what.

In b4 the lock!
