The "End All" Knife

Once I found the chris reeve 21’s years ago, I knew I had found “the” knife for me.

Since then I’ve built up quite the collection, probably about 15 different models of 21’s…both large and smalls. (Along with a few zaans of course)

must have gotten one of my first 10 years ago, if not more and still carry it today along with the others.

The 21 has been the only knife that has been a constant, when I open my collection of knives up, never do I find myself thinking about selling any of them, however over the years I’ve sold tons of benchmades off, spydercos … even striders, and hinderers.

I still have a decent collection of other knives, but when I need a serious, reliable, yet simple knife I reach for my 21’s. (Size according to task at hand)

I’m not saying I don’t buy any new knives. I sure do! But never with the intention / anticipation or even the thought of it becoming my end all be all knife.

I think the 21 is that for me… been over a decade and I’ve never wanted for more out of a knife.

With all of that said, lately the past year or two I’ve seen just how useful a multi tool is… much more so than a knife.

Today I find myself prioritizing a multi tool over a knife… it’s not as fun to play with, but can help get so many more things done that a knife just can’t for only a few ounces more weight.
For me, at this point, my end all is Large SHF. I am up to four now, and have my eye on more lol

Yea, I might have to pick one up to see what the hype is about, I am a big Spyderco fan, but I have lately been wrestling with the Ti handle addiction.
I have suggestion … This is a end all for me.

Except they have a old sprint run coming up, I really want to get.

I do love some Spydercos, I have a sage 2, a spydichef, and a McBee. Probably have to add this one to the WTB list

My Shirogorov Neon was my last knife… I carried it for over 4 years every day while my other knives languished in a drawer. The right series of events occurred and I gave the Neon to my son a couple of weeks ago. I broke the Chris Reeve knives out of the drawer, and while they are nice, they just do not resonate with me for EDC. The large are too bulky and heavy, the small are too small, yet still too bulky for their size. By coincidence, after years on the waiting list, I won the Rask lottery. It just arrived. I find the Rask to be the Neon on steroids. I don’t see where I’ll be needing another knife.

Am I the only person who wants to know what knife he just bought? I want to see your maybe the end knife.

I haven't bought a new knife in 3 months. I'm banking that good will with the accountant to put towards a Christmas Knife. Hopefully she'll forget all the stuff I bought for my motorcycles..😁

I am actually in a position to say that my next knife will be my last (other than kitchen knives that my friend Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer will be making for me). I only need one more knife to complete my CRK collection and done I am! I am looking forward to just spending the rest of my days enjoying the knives Ive been fortunate enough to collect and leave the hunting to all the young guys!

Not sure I have come to the knife but I have surely come to what I want in a knife (this is going off of fixed blades folders to me have little value)

Low alloy but hard steel (current favorites are 52100 and AEBL at 61-62 hrc)
Stock no thicker than 1/8”
Ground in a way that benefits cutting not stupid YouTube testing
For edc blade around 3.75” for woods use 6-6.5”
Handle not to exceed 4.5”

Yikes, No Pressure there, haha! :0
Not to call You out or anything, but I think you are being a little disingenuous, HAHA!
;)
I think you asked for Four knives, or was it a hundred? Idk??? Haha.
Either way, you will Still be getting A LOT of knives still.

Although I like that you are making goals, that's a start.
😂😂😂😂

To be fair 2 of those 4 are for my Daughter and Wife!;)

My new end-all is a flipper that’s the quality of a CRK. Easy to flip and close, quality materials, decent steel (doesn’t have to be MagnaCut), solid build, clean F&F, about the size of a small Sebenza with a blade similar to an insingo. Closest thing I’ve found to that is a ProTech Malibu Wharncliffe, which these days is harder to find than hens teeth.

A Quitter never Wins and a Winner never Quits🤣

My Jr. high football coach told me that and I live by it!

I consider myself to be more of a practical purchaser and I still own about 25 knives.
If I was really 100% practical, I'd just carry a box-cutter with replaceable blades in the handle as that's 99%+ what I use a knife for.
