The fall snark thread

So, had an interesting night tonight, involuntarily. The salon that I get my hair done at is opening a second location. Tonight was the grand opening of that location. Well, it was a sausagefest beyond belief but it was pretty mundane until the cops raided the place. Apparently, which I didn't know, drugs are as popular in the barber shop as they are the commercial kitchen.

I just shave my head... :p

I really like how that condor speed bowie looks! Its in the "save for later" part of my cart

Along with the kukri, golok, and boomslang LMAO

Total there is 22 knives in the save for later part right now...

Nevermind the dundee looks cooler than the speed bowie for the same price and same handle

I didnt know he was C tanner but i just watched that video a little bit ago. I will probably never really get the kukri, golok, or boomslang but ill get the dundee bowie eventually. It just looks neat. And the size and price makes it more appealing.

The Boomslang is a hellova lot of knife AND sheath for the money WW.
I had one, modded it, sold it, and regretted selling it. Now I am thinking about buying another one ..lol

I hear the boomslang actually isn't as good a chopper as the BK9. I know that most of Condor's edges are pretty thick. If you don't have a belt sander to thin them out yourself then I highly recommend http://www.baryonyxknife.com/ (42blades here on BFC) and get the special grade. He thins out the edges and sometimes make some other little tweaks to really improve the blades. He also inspects every single piece that he gets for even the tiniest fault or defect. Sometimes he has good deals on "Grade B" stuff and often when you spring for the special grade it fixes whatever imperfection made it a grade b in the first place. He ships fast too.

Morning y'all!
Same here. I sold mine a year ago and still wish I hadn't. And it's a better chopper than the 9 after you rework the edge a little. I did mine by hand and it only took about 30-40 minutes. Really wish I still had that one.

This extra-long shift is almost over. Should only be about 2 more hours until I'm walking through my front door.

This weekend I need to fiddle with the starter on my blazer. Either I didn't get it shimmed right and that is causing it to bind and tear itself apart, or it's a junk starter that's falling apart and that's causing it to bind. If it's falling apart again like last time I'll probably just buy a new one and see how that goes. They're only like $60 for a lifetime warranty(as long as I take the recipt out of my pocket before I do laundry. :o ) so not a big deal. After that I need to clean out and organize the stuff in the K5 and go through my camping/outdoor gear so that I can go up on the mountain for a quick over-nighter next weekend. There's probably some snow up there. :D

Also gotta renew my registration and I would like to grab some firewood for the cheap fire pit I "fixed" in the backyard. It's butt-ugly and I could have done a much better job but the point is we can have fires in the backyard now and that's all anyone cares about anyway.

So, I leave on my trip that work has agreed so graciously to send me on tonight. I will be busy will class through out the day but evening are gonna be boring. There's a sports bar within walking distance. Pronbably watch football there tomarrow. Tuesday I may go to the cinema to watch Captain Phillips. Anybody seen that? Is it worth watching? Wendsay, if the time is good, I'll probably call DerekH and get the ball rolling on a project we have intended to start a long time ago, (You hear that D?) Wensday, I will work on stiching up a bunch of sheaths that I made up yesterday while I watch suviviour, then Thursday after class come home.

Oh, and get this, the "upgrade" car rental that they told me they would give me because of such short notice turned out being a minivan! :D haha, my wife hasn't stopped laughing yet, calling it my "Batmobile" I figure what the hell, at least the bastard didn't put me in a smart car, and its got plenty of room and a nice stereo.

The Pack Golok is well worth the price - nice balance, pretty good edge geometry, and chops like a mad fiend without being so heavy it tires you out.
I did ripple the edge on mine chopping seasoned osage orange, but no chip or tear.

Hey Vik, sorry I over looked your one post on my subforum. If your serious, I'll do the skeletool deal!

really?
you do realize how inexpensive a skeletool is, don't you?

Yeah, but its always better to trade stuff with friends and saves me from having to go somewhere and buy one. Just PM the details as far as what you want and I will hook you up!

I agree w/ 1066vik. The Pack Golok is awesome. It's a lot smaller than the Golok and most machetes, but it is powerful. I held the Engineer Bolo once, way too heavy and it's all out of balance.

That pack golok is really calling me. The sleeper in the condor group is the 12" bolo machete. It's ugly and has a poly handle, but in hardwood it doesn't get much better.

Cut my damn finger with my TOPS BOB this morning. Barely touched it, and it went about half way to the bone. Pure stupidity on my part too. On a side note, the BOB's not as comfortable as I thought it was going to be.

Gee, all this time I thought you were a dude.

:D
My hair is really hard to cut, there is a lot of it, and I have weird cowlicks that grow out weird if I have it cut too short. It's usually pretty cool the place is right across the street from my place, and it's the kind of place that has a couple of old arcades in it, lots of tvs, you go in and he gives you free beer or red bull and vodkas...
