Hours of no snarking...

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends.

I got my Mora hook knife in. Been working on my spoon I started when we were camping. Also, I did some trim in the kitchen today.

Those hook knives look interesting, how is it working it out for ya?

Works pretty good. Of course, the deeper you get, the easier it is (I'm sure there's a joke there). I believe the wood to be oak, so it's some pretty hard stuff.

So, my mom is addicted, like most people apparently, to reality shows. Particularly cooking shows. She has been watching MasterChef since it's inception. There is a new one this season, MasterChef Kids. Granted these kids have some skills, however it just seems... Trivial? I dunno just something about it, I can't really take. Of course it could be the chefs I can't stand. Anyway she was watching an episode today where the kid she liked got kicked off, she got legitimately hurt by it. I do not understand that behavior. It has absolutely no bearing in my life if that kid wins or not, why would I care. I can understand a football team losing and getting upset, that would be if I had money on the game. If not, it's a game who cares!

I have what is probably a stupid question, but that is kind of my signature...

Is the handle on the 14 hardened enough to throw sparks on a firesteel? I been thinking of drilling/milling a notch in the ring for a firesteel but don't know if it would work or not.

For a little while I had a 14 that i got from someone here that had been modded to throw sparks at the ring. It worked. so Id say yes.

The mini ulu I have coming in.

I have a question. I have a knife that I cant send anywhere, I cant even show pictures of it, BUT i need a sheath for it, and here lies the problem.

So i have been looking online for cheap knives that come with half decent sheaths already. I need one for a blade thats between 5"-5.5" But the specs ops type sheaths are too bulky. This is more of a real nice gentlemens knife and would not look good in a bulky survival type sheath. But im not opposed to nylon sheaths that are more slim line. And after looking at universal sheaths i came to the conclusion they range from 20-50+ and i got to thinking i might could get a "free" knife out the deal. Well im buying a sheath so a knife coming with it would be a plus LMAO

Anyway anyone have any suggestions of CHEAP knives, the cheaper the better but under 60 is a must, between 5-5.5" blade that come with decent, not too bulky sheaths?

Now if I cant find a decent sheath that comes with a knife, or knife that comes with a decent sheath LMAO, Ill look more into a universal type sheath that will go good with a nice "fancy" knife, like this leather one below just might work and 30 bucks isnt bad at all..

Made (some of) dinner tonight with my new BK-5 I won at the Northeast Gathering - used it to cut the potatoes for a curried veg. dish. I still really love my Whustof 8" Santoku for dicing onions tho. I don't know how everyone gets pictures of this process - I thought about taking some, but it's like the onions go in, then I'm trying to clean up the mess from breakfast and lunch....then some more food prep, get the laundry swapped out, more food prep and then, even if I did get pictures, I've gotta get them off the camera and on to Flickr....how do you guys get your pics up so fast? I don't have a smart phone, but I'm guessing there's the answer to my question.
Anyway, now I feel a little foolish 'cause I put a placeholder in Guyon's 40k contest but the picture I want to post is on paper and I have to spend an hour finding, scanning, uploading and posting, and that seems a little much. I can find a picture on the web, but it's not the same, plus it feels a tad like cheating.

Hey man, I'll shoot you an email with my phone number. Gimme a call and I will tell you everything I know about bending kydex.

This guy's always trying to get my phone number. I think he wants to ask me out. I guess I might have to, now that he's a mod.

1; Get it hot
2; Press it hard
3; Measure twice drill once

Right ? Just being a smart ass.

Kinda. :p

So I'm working tonight. With the time change that mean an extra hour here at work. Bleh. Easiest job ever though, dang near free money. I'll be hangin out in the chatroom a lot tonight.

My Opinel No. 12 and No.12 saw came in today. Found them as I was heading out the door so I barely had time to open the packages. Pretty nice though. Dang the No.12 is big. Can't wait for the 8 to show up.

Worldwood - did you check out the Condor Rodan?

I got a rodan a while back before the BK10 came out. I like it, the "choil" sucks but for $25 it's a solid knife. Even though I have a 2, a 10, and an ontario SP46 I'm still going to keep my rodan. Good knife to keep in the truck if nothing else.

Ww, I think blind horse knives sells decent leather sheaths that aren't too expensive.

thanks man, Some of those are real nice, most of them too small though. And that site is annoying to navigate. it opens a new screen each time i click something.

Thats what im talking about right there, nice!! Im going to look at other condors too now lol thanks man

ok i bought the Rodan. Thanks

Almost bought the Veran too but im sending both the potbelly and chopweiler to 710 on monday for sheaths so im good on 7-8" sheaths for now lol

See thats what im talking about guys!! Thanks everyone.

I was going to spend 30 on a sheath that may or may not have worked, instead i spent 30 on a knife with a leather sheath, even if it doesnt fit my other knife i still have a knife and sheath that goes together and seems to have good reviews.

If the leather sheath fits my other knife Im not sure what ill do with the sheath-less rodan, but i guess that just depends on how i like it come tuesday when it gets here.
