The thing is there's no signed posted anywhere. We even asked for them to show us a sign or law saying that we can't be there, but there isn't one. I guess it's one of those unwritten rules.

Started raining again before I got much done but still had a great day.

I am so so tired of every shirt i buy shrinking up to look like it was made for a 200 pound midget. I have a basket full of shirts headed to goodwill 2moro Most every single one has literally only been worn once, or not at all, just washed because it started out a little too big but then they all come out short and wide.

I mean they only shrink the length ways and they stay wide as heck, ill never understand it.

Im scared to wash some shirt just because i dont want them ruined.

I have tried different settings, different washers and dryers, yet all my shirts always shrink up like crazy in cold or hot water.

Any of you other guys deal with this?

I don't usually wear T-Shirts. I have 2 that I wear for work once in a while. Usually my shirts are knit polos or are button downs.

WW - they're not cheap by any stretch, but the t-shirts from Duluth Trading don't shrink and they last for a long time.

Dang. I need a trap like that. I only catch 1 at a time in mine. :D

On a side note, I've caught 9 rats, 11 mice and a possum in the last 3 weeks in my outbuildings. 8 more mice drowned in the dogs' swimming pool prior to our getting 7 inches of rain last week.

You know how they say it's the second mouse that gets the cheese... It isn't always true

Thanks man, Paying 50 on a shirt that you can wear 20 times is a lot better than paying 20 on a 1 time use shirt.

Ill check em out :D

The one on the left is a Brian Breedan Camp Cleaver - 10.5" blade, 1/4" thick and brutally awesome as a chopper. :D

Very nice!!

Is that 01 steel?

So i got this little small mouse in my house thats a brave little joker, its been around for almost a week now that i know of, but he is a little dare devil.

I place a piece of bread on my shoe and act like i forget about it, i just keep typing online like its not there and the little mouse runs up and takes the bread off my shoe, no joke.

We dont get many mice, and despite my neighbors claims to have several rats in her house I never seen a rat in here, but the occasional mouse does come out. I may see 3 or 4 a year but its random and i dont see them again, but this one comes out every night lately. My wife wants me to get a pellet gun and take it out, but i dont think this little guy is harming anything.. late at night its a trip to watch him run around LMAO, plus im not really suppose to own a pellet gun so id rather not even deal with that route. If i see another one ill put some traps out but this one little mouse i dont think he is hurting anything right now, we have yet to have any trash bag ripped or anything so im leaving him be for now. Brave little joker just wants a piece of bread, who am i to deny him that LMAO

Just wait until your wife finds her best sweater/PJs/etc all chewed up for use as a nest by the cute little bugger. THEN you will WISH you had take him out with extreme prejudice. After termites, mice are the most destructive things that can get into your house. They will chew your clothes, your electrically wiring (once, usually in a wall where you can't get to them and they then smell to high heaven for a while), your food, just about everything. They will pee where ever the urge strikes them and THEY STINK.

I live way out in the boonies and I am constantly fighting mice. I have 15-16 traps out every night and check them every morning. Knock on wood, I got 4 new ultra-sonic varmint chasers and so far, I haven't had a mouse in the house for nearly a month now. These actually seem to work. I have 4 more on order for the the shop, warehouse, gardening shed and garage apartment.

DEATH TO THE VERMIN!!!!!!!

oh yeah... did I mention I don't like mice??? :D :grumpy: :D :grumpy: :D :grumpy:

I wash everything EXCEPT underwear, sheets and white towels on COLD WASH / COLD RINSE.

I dry almost everything on LOW heat settings. This is where most shrinkage occurs - too much heat for too long a time frame. If something comes out a still a little damp, I hang it on a hanger and let it finish air-drying hanging from the shower rod in the bathroom.

The above steps have resulted in a whole lot less shrinkage (except when I eat too much. :D )

I have a few T-shirts that have "shortened" over the years, but they are all at least 4-5 years old.

I turn all shirts inside out before washing to reduce the number of little fabric "pills" from forming on the public side of the shirts.

I have shirts that are 10 - 12 years old that I can still wear out in public. Usually a dress shirt goes into the "for farm use only" pile when the collar tips start to fray or I get a nasty stain on them. I did get rid of a pile to Goodwill after I lost 40+ lbs. Went from large Ls and small XLs to Ms being a tad tight. Working on getting the Ms to be loose. Broke out the old Ms I had stored for a few years and got a few new ones.

I always use cold wash and rinse and low heat settings too, if its still damp i turn it on another 10 minutes in the dryer.

I have hang dried them and that helped A LOT but i dont always have time to hang stuff to dry, or want to for that matter. But it did slow the shrinking down, but not stop it, eventually they all go short and fat on me.

Im reading hard water could help speed the process, and since my washer and dryer are down in the basement that could be a possibility, i never tested the water down there. Last time i checked my kitchen sink water was a couple years ago when i moves in. But we drink only bottled water. I hate city water, i grew up with our own well and septic and nothing beats well water to me.

But maybe the water has been helping speed shrinking up i dont know. I know im tired of finding shirts i like just to have to drop them off to goodwill in hopes there is a fat midget in need of a shirt, if so I have stock piled that little fellow.

That taste in city water that you hate, that's hard water.

I shrunk every thing that I own in the way of clothing a year or two back.

Had to start all over from scratch.

Ruined my high school athletic clothing and all. I still wore the warm ups..

But I have a taz shirt from 96 thats ratty as eff and I don't care one bit. I'll wear it Walmart right now..

Don't know if the hard water is causing your problems, but our water down here is so hard, you could use if for a foundation. My sisters and s-in-l all have water softeners and I don't. The only good I see them doing is lowering their bank accounts. I have a filter on the refrigerator and one of those "pitcher-filter" things for drinking water and that's it. What kind of soap do you use? I've using that high efficiency He soap (tide or all). Every soap has a different composition. Maybe whatever you are using accelerates the shrinking process.
