Glock 19

In all seriousness, the reason I like Glock is I saw what they would take during a Yeager class. All (and I do mean all) other weapons that went through the 5-day contractor course running a 1000 rounds a day failed at some point (including every brand of AR rifle), except the Glock pistols. The .45 owners had many problems, especially when it comes to getting their guns muddy / dirty, retrieving, clearing and getting back into the fight. That class was an eye-opener for me.

Don't get me wrong, I have seen Glocks that will bang all day, but I have seen ones that haven't too. G36s are notorious underperformers. Glocks also can and do break small parts having seen a couple with broken firing pins and others with extractor problems.

My "problem" with Glock fanaticism (not saying this about anyone here) is that just because some other dude's Glock did X, Y, and Z, doesn't mean that your specimen will and just because someone's 1911 failed doesn't mean that mine, or anyone else's, all do or will.

There are literally millions of handguns the world round that go "bang" every time. I have a cheapo Makarov that does that, but the pistol sucks otherwise on every criteria except for it's still a lethal weapon.

Glocks are just about the only ones on the market that can be totally neglected, but that's not how I treat my gear.

Glock.

1911s are sexier, but I like my black plastic.

First pistol was a Glock 20 10mm...back when a box of 50 was 14 or 15 bucks. Guess I got bit. It is still my favorite. Added a cheap Hogue slip-on grip and Warren Sevigny sights. Makes one hell of a difference. I HATE stock Glock sights.

I carry a 27 with Pierce extensions and Trijicons.

I haven't shot a high-end 1911. Probably should.

I really want a CZ75B Tactical Sport, but the gun budget is weaker than I would like....and although I stocked up plenty before the huge Obama push, right now I am kind of waiting for things to cool down.

I have lots of ammo, but still ration it just because of the availability to replace it. Sucks.

All my Glocks go bang every time, but
all my 1911's go bang every time also.

Both are excellent weapons!!

Lets not argue or which are better, they are both great!!

Lets see some more pics!!:)

This one's my current favorite.

But I carry one of these.

I like these a lot too.

If I had the money, this would be the next one I would buy.

I like .45s. I like launching those big, fat, lead pills downrange.

I wasn't arguing better or worse.

Besides, were I putting money on any of my handguns to NEVER fail, it'd be on the Ruger GP-100. There's a lot to be said for a weapon that doesn't need to either feed, or extract, or has magazine issues, and has a firing pin that is pretty much too short to break.

I don't mind Glock, I just do not get off over the grip feel. My father has a few Glocks so there are some in the family. However I do own 6 XDs. The 45tact being my favorite. The newish AGP extensions are also great. Nothing like 17+1 rd of 45 (they are only advertised to get +3 but the 4th can fit... I have only loaded the 4th twice to see it happen). For metal it would be the unique Beretta I scored for Christmas. One of 25 made, Vertec SS slide, Elite 3 frame..... Elite 3s are still not out yet.

I really want MC operator but that wilson that looks the same is great as well. Also own a PX4, really a sweet gun, did the stealth levers, trijicon green/ yellow sights, and a steve bedair guiderod. Been looking at getting a P220 22lr/ 45 combo...... if I get a large enough bonus this month I may.

I might start a rifle thread now.

Hard to say which one of my Glocks is my favorite. I have a 19 (9mm), 23 (40S&W) and a 30 (45 ACP). I love them all. If I am not carrying one of them, I have a S&W 642 (38 SPL+P) in my front pocket.

G-17.........

Thats the first hand gun I paid money for, still have it too.

Hope to have a beefy revolver soon too.

EDC: Springfield Armory A1 with all the tasteful goodies. I'd add a Wilson mag well and some other bits.

I am a big 1911 fan and own several and have traded/sold several others. But the one pistol I stake my life on every day is my G36. I carry it AIWB all day every day unless I'm in bed or in the shower. For my SD needs, it's about the perfect handgun.

I love all my guns, but I carry my glock 19 the most. I also carry a ruger lcp when space is an issue.

But I have seen them fail under tests where guns were subjected to muddy conditions and a cylinder locked up. Yep, that's right. A cylinder locked up. No weapon, I said NO WEAPON is fail-proof. I want a gun that works with high reliability under severe conditions. Agreed, a revolver is right up there but it is not fail-proof.

I was at one class and the instructor told everyone to drop their gun in a mud hole, pick it up, clear the weapon and start shooting. A coupe of nice .45 owners refused. They were told to leave the class. If you can't or won't practice under potentially severe conditions and baby your weapons then they are not tools. They are collector pieces. They will fail you at a time you may not expect. A gun is a freakin' tool. Just like a knife.
