2nd Gen Glock 23 w/ New York Trigger...

3rd Gen Glock 20 w/ New York Trigger...

Egad, keep the finger out of the trigger guard until you are ready to fire. Don't let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to put a hole in. Do not put your faith in mechanical safeties and a New York Trigger is a form of mechanical safety and was invented because apparently Officers in the NYPD couldn't keep their fingers outside of the trigger guards OR the powers that be in the NYPD thought it would be a good idea.

Well, this will show you how smart I am when it comes to guns but what is a NY trigger? Without me googling it real quick ;)

The NY trigger is a heavier trigger setup for Glocks that was originally done for the NYPD, so they would have fewer NDs- and fewer lawsuits apparently. I believe the NY trigger has an 8lb pull instead of the standard 5, IIRC.

Heavier poundage to diminish negligent discharges while your damned finger is in the trigger guard under high stress situations as far as I'm concerned! People might come up with another B.S. excuse, but that's it for me.

There are 2 different NY trigger springs. Olive (NY1 8#) and black (NY2 12#). The trigger spring + connector weight give the total trigger pull weight. There are 3 different connector weights 3.5, 5, and 8#.

I personally have the NY1 + 3.5 connector in my Glocks. The result is a pull weight that is close to factory. The NY trigger spring gives more of a constant revolver like pull where the factory setup has front-end slop that you have to squeeze through to get to the break point. This set-up also gives a better feeling reset (to me at least).

NY #1 trigger springs are the way to go.

NY Trigger...somehow that just seems fitting to me. Not to be mean to anyone from NY :D

So...being that cops from NY have a problem with ADs, would it not be better to just issue gun locks and require that they carry their weapons with locks. They could always keep a key on them to unlock the thing before needing to shoot someone. I guess the only reason they don't do this is because everyone's afraid they will lose or forget the the key, or maybe they will forget how to put the key in the lock and unlock it ???? :D :D

After a quick bit of research, one source said that the NY triggers came about when NYPD changed from all revolvers to all Glock. When the Glock light trigger was too different, they created a tirgger pull that would feel like a revolver for the Glock.

Not sure if it is this, or just a safety issue. I love glocks and wouldn't trust a heavier trigger to be my safety. Anyone who owns a glock knows the real safety is to keep your finger off the trigger and pointed in a safe direction. that's the real safety.

By the way, nice to have this thread back where it belongs

When you bitch, moan, cry and whine as much as I did this morning.....

I even got in the floor and started kicking and screaming thinking that would help! :D :D

When the New York Trigger came about, most of what was being written was about "accidents." Even Massad Ayoob said, "The greatest thing about the Glock is it is easy to shoot, the worst thing about the Glock is, it is easy to shoot." They had him on some TV News Program, I cannot remember, maybe it was ABC's 20/20, "demonstrating" how if someone smacked your wrist and you had your finger in the trigger, it could "go off." I always thought that was incredibly strange coming from him and I hope they cut the film to misrepresent what he said, etc.

I don't have a lot of experience with guns, but these are a few that I own. The 9MM Beretta, and the Rugers are a lot of fun to shoot. The best thing about the Ruger P345 is that it was CHEAP compared to other 45's. The little .22 Revolver is non-functional. The Ruger Mark III is a really nice gun. It is extremely accurate and easy to shoot. The Beretta is also really easy to shoot. One of the nicest things about the Beretta is how simple it is to field strip. It is easy enoug to shoot that my 8 year olds can handle it without any problem (as you can see in my signature).
